Jim, Are your slide pins so worn that they need to be replaced ?  I would assume that these pins would last the life of the coach.
There is a FT in the yard at Colaws Salvage in Carthage , MO that still had the brake assemblies on it last year.  You might call them I don't know what year it was.

Don't know your location, but try a large truck parts.  I found some at Austin Brake and Clutch; they don't do mail order. Yes the pins are a bit expensive being hardened and ground to size.  Mine didn't really show wear at about 60k miles, but had some small bumps and pits in several places.  Pad wear indicated binding, so replaced pins and bushings.  Ok since, but only 8K miles.

We have our slide pins cleaned every year or two or so, to help reduce brake pad hang up.
But it requires wheels to be removed, which is more than I want to tackle myself.
After they clean pins with a wire wheel to remove corrosion, if I see much pitting, they are replaced, which has happened a few times. I prefer to replace with new pins.

Hi guys,

I don't think mine will last the life of the coach.  I looked at two of mine recently and they have some small pits and corrosion, so I'm wanting to find some.  It sure be nice to find a source for a lot less than $221 per pair/wheel.  Arvin-Meritor doesn't sell direct.

Jim,

I had a rear wheel seal replaced recently.  We had the opportunity to look at the slide pins and did find some pitting.

We were contemplating replacing the pins but none were in stock.  Upon futhur review, the pitted area was not where the caliper was sliding.  So we kept them and so far everything is fine.

Hi Rudy,

Yep, that's what I did too, cleaned them up with X-fine steel wool and used them again. With 16 of these precious items on my coach, I thought I should look for some to have on hand.  Then I found out how much they cost - hence the search.  Makes me wonder if I should spray them with CorrosionX but that may simply attract even more dirt.

Since you have the part number, try MHC Kenworth of Dallas 214-920-7300, or try other MHC shops until you find the best price.

I have used MHC & Ryder on parts for our Foretravel 'truck'.  Sometimes you will be offered a discounted lower price for truck repair shops.

In January, I got  Truck and Trailer in Tucson AZ to order brake parts from Arvin Meritor, and their price to me for the slide pins was $140 a set (list was $221), so I'd bet you can find a local dealer that can give you a discount too.
