Duo Therm AC Units

The front AC unit in my 95 has had Thermostat problems for a long while, I was able to get a friend to resolder the on/off switch on the board, but when it failed again there was no hope.
This thermostat is no longer available and Dometics answer is to replace both the control board in the roof unit and the thermostat at a cost of about 300 for parts. This did not seem logical when that is almost 20% of the cost of a new AC.
Thru a website RV-Coach.com and a fellow FT owner I was able to contact a William Hendrix in CO. For 85 bucks plus shipping he was able to repair  the board of the thermostat and turned it around in one week.
He also will work on 4 and 5 button Comfort Controls.
I have no connection with him other than being satisfied with his service and prices.

Gerry, The way I found this was through  RV-Coach.com , on the discussion boards about electrical issues. I never did have a phone # for Hendrix, just his Email whendrix@aol.com.

I had my 4 button thermostat repaired by Dinosaur Electronics in Lincoln City, OR. Works great now. About the same price.

Biggest mistake I made was replacing old energy hungry Coleman units with modern energy efficient ones in an attempt to get my ATS from opening frequently when using both.  The old ones were so much colder and cooled down the rig almost instantly.  The new CFC free stuff is not as good as the freon.  Do what it takes to keep your old ones going.  I should have rewired from generator to ATS and put in a relay type ATS and kept my dinosaur AC units.
