Looking for a quality floor covering to replacecarpeting

Earlier this year I came across a U.S. manufacturer of high quality floor coverings. They had products that look like tile with grout lines and all.  I was very impressed with their web site and the wide variety of surfaces available.

Then I had a computer problem and lost all of my book marks.  So now I am back to square one in my search for a non-ceramic, tile-look-alike floor product.

What have some of you had installed?  Would you use the product again?

Thanks for your input.

George,

We put dura-ceramic in our 93 coach.  GREAT product. Believe it is congoleum  (sp?) product.

Also, Dave Flannigan at FOT does a number of flooring jobs.  He can give you pros and cons of any product you may be interested in using.  MOT can do the same, just don't have a contact name..

We are only strangers until we meet; however, some of us are stranger than others

We had Mannington Adura, the Corsica line installed in our coach.  We selected the tile and had Dave Flannagan, et al install it.  The particular tile that we chose has a tumbled edge and was grouted with a flexible grout.  Looks great and easy to care for.  We have not noticed any additional noise in the coach since replacing the carpet from front door to the bedroom.  Dave put a solid surface edging along the stairwell which was icing on the cake.  People have had to touch the tile to believe it is vinyl.

George,
Look at the pictures of the floor that I put in Purple Haze.  It is an Armstrong product from Home Depot.  It was commercial grade vinyl, guaranteed for life in a non-commercial setting.  It can be used with grout or without.  I used it without and it came out OK.  I was afraid that the grout would pop out with age.

See my posts about the install.  The trim will be the hardest work, or the most expensive if you have someone else do the woodwork.

Mike,

Great looking job.  Well done.  I like the way the "tiles" look in your photos.  I was wondering what it would look like without grout.  there are some softer grouts, but grout tends to get dirty after a few years.

We will put the product on our list.  Do you have a product name or number, by any chance?

George,
It IS without grout!  I understand that you can use a flexible grout the won't break with the flexing that the coaches go through, but the DW said "no grout" and that was a "no brainer".  "A happy wife is a happy life." :-* :)) :-* :))

I don't' have the box, but somewhere there is a receipt.  I'll look for it.  If you go to Home Depot, I'm sure the boss will tell you what she wants! >:D

The DW even hums now where she vacuums.  That how happy she is to get rid of the carpets, sand, bugs, etc.  The noise level isn't any worse, and rugs are easy on the feet. ;D

Major factor in buying our '95 was that the orig owner had spec'd ginger oak plank floor stem to stern. Only one I've seen that included the bedroom. With the green leather and overhead cabinet delete its my little 40 foot den...

Mike - Did you remove rugs?  Did you prepare the subfloor in anyway before laying the tile? I like your idea of replacing rug covered boxes with walnut.
Thanks...

Jeff,

We like this product.  Do you have any photos?  I am particularly interested in seeing how FOT treated the area around the steps.
