Leveling Problem - Front Leveler will not lower

Our 2001 U270 has a problem with the passenger side front leveler. It will raise when the raise button is touched or when the right front up-arrow button is touched BUT it will not lower when either the lower button or down-arrow button is touched. The only way to lower the right front, is to exhaust all of the air in the system. This makes auto leveling nearly impossible unless we are nearly level in the first place.  However, the coach goes into travel mode as it should.

I have suspected mud daubers but am unable to locate the port where the air for the right front leveler is released. Of course it is possible/probable that something else is awry.

The attached photo shows the components which I have been examining. There are small holes in the middle of the round areas and these holes appear to be clear. Unfortunately, there is no one around to assist me with touching buttons etc at this time.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Robert

Here's one of Steve's post on our leveling exhaust ports

They're by the front axle air tanks in our '03.

Thanks Michelle, just what I was hoping for. I didn't see anything like the manifold shown in the picture near the front air tanks but will look further later this week when I can get back to the coach. It is stored at our cabin, 95 miles from here.

Found one more picture ... shows a little more of the general area of where the manifold is located (this is in the front) on our 03.  Just look for where all the air hoses converge and you will have found it.

I don't know how to move this thread to the Corrosion X Topic, but...is this an area where spraying Corrosion X would reduce the corrosion?

Belated thanks again. I haven't been visiting this site for some time. I took the coach to MOT last week for a more serious problem (needed new steering gear box) so I had them look into the leveling problem. It turned out that the right front air level solenoid was bad so they replaced it. It works fine now.

Do you recall if it was the raise or the lower solenoid?

We had some interesting behavior this past week.  The coach would always pump up the rear and never lowered the front.  Went into travel mode fine.  Seemed to be biased that the left front (driver's) air bag was the controlling factor.  We were on a very level site, but the coach seemed to adjust itself a little more frequently than normal.

We didn't really think about it until the drive home and were wondering about the HWH level algorithm (when does it lower, when does it pump up).  I got to wondering if it was a lower solenoid valve not opening or a raise solenoid valve not closed all the way (air leaking through into that front bag).

Automatic Leveling Procedures and Diagnostics.

Push the "LEVEL" (AIR) button once to turn the panel on.
Push the "LEVEL" button a second time. This will start the automatic leveling process.
The system will attempt to level the vehicle by lowering the high side and/or end of the vehicle (opposite side/end of lit yellow level indicators).

If a pair of "LOWER" valves are on continuously for 45 seconds, the system will attempt to finish leveling by raising the low side
or end of the vehicle (lit yellow level indicators).

Once the system is in the raise mode it will not try to lower the vehicle again in that leveling sequence.

If the front or rear of the vehicle is being lowered, and a pressure switch for that end comes on indicating low air pressure, the system will stop lowering the vehicle and go immediately into raise mode.

It will not wait for the 45 second timer.

Steve & Michelle,
It was the right front lower solenoid. The MOT technician told me that he swapped the right and left ones around to verify that this solenoid was defective. The part number was RAP1940. Labor charge was for 2.5 hours but this included some wiring problems he discovered in that area.
