Leaving the FT Family

To all,
Out there somewhere is a real nice coach, I suppose soon to be waiting for a new owner.  A fairly fresh change of Synthetic Rotella 15-40, new Transynd, and a fully rebuilt Allison, all new brakes 4k miles ago, Joystick retarder, new house batteries and some love.  Probably somewhere in south georgia by now.  Today was a sad day as it rolled out of the storage facility without us.  After over a year of legaleese and trying to work out a way to keep her we decided that it best to accelerate the process and turn her in as the court requested.  She was another victim of the economy and an asset of our company and therefore when the company went , so goes the assets.  We were told to "keep it and use it until someone comes to pick it up, which could easily take a year or two".  But somehow I didn't feel that I could polish, clean and maintain knowing that at any time at short notice the time to go could come.

Probably more than you wanted to know, having only really = in person = met 3 forum members we had hoped that time would have led us to more.  we never made it to a rally, the factory or MOT. RV owners as a whole are OK, but Foretravel owners are especially dedicated.  I have enjoyed being a part of this family over the last 5 years.  This forum (and prior yahoo group) was really the only place on the internet that held my interest long term and I have read every post, regardless of subject.  I may lurk around for a few months, and I will search the classifieds for the Foretravel I again want (but can't have, in the foreseeable future).  As we said when someone leaves in the Coast Guard "Fair winds and following seas".  I in turn wish you all Fair winds (but not enough to rattle your awning), a campsite with good electric, clean water, and a good view of the SW through the shade trees for your Satellite Dish and lastly a competent mechanic when you need one, but best you never do.

Regards
Gregory
Former 1995 280 SE Owner.

Gregory,

We feel your pain.  You have provided yet another face of this downward economy.  We wish you all the best.

Greg,
I too am real sorry for your situation and sad that you had to give up the Foretravel.  We're all victims of the economy in one way or another...some more than others.  There's no shame in having tried and not succeeded.

Yet, I can say that each one of your posts, including the videos you so carefully produced, provided us all with inspiration that someday we too could tackle some of the jobs you did on your Foretravel.

Don't look back.  As the British say "keep your pecker up" (that's keep your chin up, for the uninitiated), and all things straighten out with time, effort & dedication.

All the Best, and please continue to contribute to the Foreforums, I've certainly appreciated it.

Well .... I, for one, no longer am among the "uninitiated."

For a moment I thought you had imbibed a tad too much.

Gregory,

I am so sad to hear this but keep in mind that when a door closes on you somewhere God opens a window. Because I believe that I also believe you will recover and be back in a Foretravel someday.

Greg,
Thanks for all the tech support you have provided in the past. You inspired me to change out my old CRT (Audit) monitor and replace it with the LCD and always looked forward to your posts. Hopefully you will reestablish your footing and come back stronger than before.
Good luck,
Rick

Greg,
I going to tell you the same thing they told me over at the Tiffin Rv Network when I let them know I had moved to SOB and was moving on.

This was their response:  "Congratulations! Would love to see pictures and hear about your coach. We are members of TRVN because it is Inclusive, not exclusive ... please stay with us on the forum and also join us at the rallies".  And I do go back and visit once in a while.

As others have said, you insight and expertise has been invaluable to many.  RVing gets into the blood so I am sure you will be picking up something, when things are better.  Until then, stick around because we enjoy you company!~

Greg, Like others I owe you.  Your fuel line fix tips saved me a lot of grief and cash.  Hope that things come around and you are back with us as soon as possible.

IMHO ... belonging to the "Foretravel family" is kind of like being Italian or Irish or having any other strong identity.  Somewhere along the line you may remarry and the name may change ... but you never really stop being Italian and you throw a party on St. Patrick's Day.  I am not sure it is possible to really leave!  So ... just hang out with us from time to time, OK?
