Generator slide lock repair

I finally had some time to fix the generator slide locks. The initial design of the lock had broken away on both sides. I did not want to weld to the assembly so I came up with the bolted angle bracket below. First pics of broken pieces followed by new brackets.

Nice repair! One side on my coach is broken also and I will use your idea for fixing it. Thanks :)

Rick, Nice fix.. I will have to go look at mine but I think that its different.,  Believe that bolts simply go through the two members with no bracket.  Thanks for a reminder to look.

The first pic shows the left side with the upper portion of the slider broken off. Second pic show the right side with the locking bolt installed. I intentionally broke off the right side tang that protruded up. It was a fairly weak area. I merely hard bolted the new angle down to the deck on the slider and drilled  horizontally through the fixed portion of the slide base. A bolt was then put in those horizontal holes and it basically mimics the old design but with some modification. Where the bolt goes through both sides of the fixed piece I have a 1" long piece of 3/8 pipe to keep the shape from crushing. I am going to weld a little tang on the pipe so that I can place it into position when installing the locking bolt. The bolt is long enough so that the body of the bolt, and not the threads, is bearing on both sides of the steel. Also not that this is on a 1995 U-300SE with a side mounted generator. Not sure how others are secured but at least it might gives an simple alternative repair.
