Shoe Goo to the rescue!!
While camping in Ashland, WI on Lake Superior I noticed that the water hose was dripping where it screws into the coach (driver's side, engine compartment for those unfamiliar with the older models). The water puddled on the shelf under the connections. Upon opening the hose compartment I found it had about an inch of water in it. I dried off the shelf, tightened the hose connection, "SHOE GOOed" the seams around the shelf and have not seen a leak since.
The stuff really works. I am not advocating substituting SHOE GOO for the conventional caulks or sealers but when I couldn't find the RV sealant or a RV dealer locally I used it.
