Re: GE Advantium Micorwave/Convection oven

I am still feeling my way with this Advantium. It is light years different from the KitchenAid convection/microwave that came installed (by the previous owner)in my '93. The cookbooks that I was able to pick up at FMCA rallies were very specific to Sharp settings and there was no way I felt able to convert them to the KitchenAid. At least the recipes in the Advantium manual are things that I might possibly use .... and there IS a DVD in the coach that may help me, also. If anyone finds a book that is handy for use with the Advantium, I would love to hear about it. That is the best way for me, personally, to learn the settings and how they affect cooking times. So far, I have had good experiences with just sticking to Pyrex or silicone ware using the metal pan .... a square pan will turn completely. There may be a reason they say to leave the turning wheel in place for all cooking procedures. there is a vented, perforated area under the back half to that turntable area that may need to be exposed to either suck or exhaust air during convection cooking. It might cause a hot spot under any stationary pan, or cause your oven to heat unevenly if it is not allowed air flow. I am just a good girl and read the books and try and follow directions. I am too afraid these things will blow up!
