It is cold out remember to turn up your basement heat

Hi all, I am sitting in the coach today. Took it out for a short trip. I know it will be cold out tonight and remembered a couple minutes ago to turn up the heat in the basement. This is for the Aquahot guys and those of us who can't go to warmer locations.

First freeze in the Metroplex is forecast for Thanksgiving night - we'll be winterizing our coach tomorrow (when the temps are still in the 70's).

See, if you guys used your coach more, you wouldn't need to winterize it. Living in it is much more fun and you can go farther south when the cold weather comes. Unless, of course, you are Peggy and I stuck in Kansas City for Thanksgiving.

OK - where is this thermostat for basement? - Just reviewed schematics for Aqua-Hot and did not show a basement thermostat - HUM

What year/models have this?

KENT - does get chilly in KC - that's Jim's hometown - we like mid spring best to enjoy KC

Should be on the same panel that surrounds your water manifold.

Go to the storage bay where the water pump is located. On the grey box that covers the water distribution you should see a knob with numbers - that's the thermostat. Make sure it's turned to a reasonable number (like 38 or higher) and make sure your AquaHot is on.

That compartment I've not ventured back into once I went over each valve setting and cleaned around the drain lines -

I'll look for the temp dial tomorrow - assume we have one

We're setting at Escapee's Rainbow Ends, Livingston - heading to The Woodlands, Tx for T-day with friends

It's dark out and since I'm afraid of the dark and flash light does not keep me safe from boogies I'll check it out first thing tomorrow.

Our temps here just north of Houston are mild though this morning truck had frost on it for all of 5 minutes

I must be getting old, this morning my hands got so cold they hurt, temp at 33f and handling nylon straps to load stuff on the crane truck

Small point, on my 01 320, the Xantrax inverter/charger, keeps the bay fairly warm all by its self running the fan. Always amazed how much the fan runs.

Hi John, Agree on that and yes I keep that thermostat up also. Boy I am getting anxious to retreive the coach from Xtreme, they sent a few pix, It is amazing the time spent on the details, they take things off/apart that I would never thought about, but it makes sense. Painting my style requires only two things, Paint and a Mop.

Virginia,

On our coach, passenger side, last door closest to rear. Take a look there. the thermostat is nothing elegant. Just a small black plastic knob that is rotated to the number you select. I believe the lowest number is all you kneed.

Let me know if this does not help.

Yes Michelle was right and Barry's pic excellent & you started me on the right path

I will have to admit I never saw that little knob and brass gauge before today - it is tucked up toward the top corner toward rear of coach. It was set on 45 so I just left it there for now, am sure it can be set lower since we are in the Houston, TX area for a while and won't have real low temps - now I better take that back cause we were in Houston last year with ice/freezing temps during December - UGH!!!

I'm glad I asked about this as I did not find it on the schematics, but now that I know where it is will go back and review. Have learned lots about coach by reading the schematics.

We have a 2000 U320 and need some winterizing tips for the coach. Where is the switch that turns the fan on in the bays to keep them warm? Any suggestions appreciated.

In my coach the heat for the bays is controlled by the thermostat located in the bathroom. Make sure that it is turned to on position when you desire to heat the bays.

Thanks for the tips, found the thermostat, and will turn on the aqua hot (diesel burner) inside the coach. Do I need to run the heat inside the coach also? If so, electric or floor furnace? Thanks, this is our first freeze in a foretravel coach.

No you do not have to run the heat in the coach, but you must have the aqua-hot switch turned on.

Can anyone tell me what type of fluid goes into the Aqua Hot Reservoir? Getting ready to head to cold temps in a coupl weeks.

Hopefully Roger Berke will respond. It is not just any old coolant. I had the information you want on my computer, but when I got a virus last spring I lost all of that data, so I hope he responds.

I dont think they put in Camco as standard until 2003 model.
Mine had the same coolant as the radiator & Generator. Texaco Extended life.
There was a sticker on the reservoir telling me what was in it.
