Hi Barry My build # is 4450, 94 U280 and we are still cookin. I think you might have all my info, but if not just let me know.

I think we have this one figured out.
Another mystery is the Vin. says the engine should be a 350. The 454 and 400 AT. sure look original.

The plate on my 1993 U300 shows it was built in october 1992.

Model No. G93 4271 36WTB IU300 WE11

Example: F 03 6024 4023 AGDS U320T E31

03 = Year
6024 = Coach Build Unit #
4023 = Internal Designations
AGDS = Floorplan
U320T = Chassis
E31 = Internal Engine Designations

Model, year and build number are helpful to have in your signature especially when asking technical questions. It's also useful to have that info handy when calling FOT (James Triana, Mark Harvey, etc.) for help.

Well I am new on here, I just bought a 1989 Grand Villa in Texas, Last week, Sight unseen, It will be driven from Texas to California on Monday where it will be changed to R/H drive and converted to Australian ADR's and then shipped to me here in Australia,
So I wont see it for another 3 months till it gets here,

Its a 1989 built in August 1988, Grand Villa 3600 SB ORED 300 It looks magic in the piccys,

Vin # 10T9M9A80J1034290 I dont have a piccy of the number under the Vin, The Vin came on my receipt, Can you tell me please what the Vin Numbers mean, Please,

according to this it is saying I should have a U280? Everthing else on the MH and paperwork says U300?

Yep, that's correct. Build number 4612. It was useful when I called the technical assist. guy at Foretravel last week to try and get some clarification on that output retarder sticker behind the I.D. plate.

Hello everyone, I am a new member and i have a 1985 36ft Grandvilla and she is on the way to Australia. Motorcade No. 12562 Build Plate GVF 85261 2360 00RED-C . Just looking through the postings and found one from the previous owner. Great to get the history.

Build # 3429 would be a 1989 model, 4290 would be closer to a 1993 model

Barry, I don't know if it matters reference build numbers but I sold my '93 U225, build #4285 to a nice couple in Lake Havasu City, Az. (I don't know whether they joined the forum or not) and on October 8th of this year I purchased (with a huge smile on my face) Brett Wolfe's '93 U240 build #4297 affectionately named "Roamie"!! I made the change with the factory.

Foreoureye,
Look at the plate on the wall next to the driver's seat. It's buried in the model number. Your's should start with G88.... The next four digits are your build number.
I don't know if it's true on other coaches but our build number was hand written on the outside of the owners manuals with a magic marker as well as written inside in the first few pages.

VIN number won't contain build number. VIN is vehicle identifier, for title/registration purposes. Build number will be in the long ID number assigned by FT and not something I think you'd find easily via Google (try Beamalarm instead or see the first post in this thread where Barry explains it )

AH. that explains it, Barry Beam gave me a different number from my Vin number, I thought the Chassis number was the build number, I cant read the ID plates from the piccys, I will have to wait till it gets here,
I did think it a bit odd that there were two different numbers,

Chassis Number is 4290,

Build number is 3460

My coach is currently in the north Pacific Ocean some where heading for Yokohama in Japan, ETA in OZ 15/2/2013.

There is a lot I have to learn about this coach,

G for Grandvilla 90 is your model year 3644 is your unit number 38 is your length SB Side Bath U 280 and the I is for side isle with the side bath instead of the walk thru.

Are build numbers equivalent to a sequential serial number? Using the example above, does that mean that Wayne's coach is the 3,644th coach that Foretravel built?
