How are you getting your Foreforums messages?

If you are getting Email, is it Digest or individual?

email on MacBook, iPhone, and Windoze. If I want to review the full thread, I usually follow a link and look at it on the MacBook.

Mostly through RSS feed, although I'm not sure I get all of the posts that way. So I also check the "Show unread posts since last visit" link.

I get the daily digest by e-mail.

However, I find it more to my liking to go to the "Show unread posts since last visit." on a daily basis and review the entries.  Thus I usually just delete the e-mail digest.

Even when I get the email of the new message, I rely on the "new" flag on the message strings on this site.  Many times there are new message strings that I am not aware of.  Plus, I can add the message string to my Bookmarks if I want.

I receive every posting in an email message. I read most and delete a few without reading.

Only by individual email messages read in our Outlook program.

Works very well for me.

Thanks for making it possible for me to read and easily reply to Foretravelers from within Outlook.

Like Harvey, I get the daily digest by e-mail to Outlook and/or my EVO 4G.

However, I usually just use it as a reminder to check the "Show unread posts since last visit." on a daily basis and review the entries.  I find the digest usually doesn't contain enough for me to understand the thread.... Bill

Same here. I see several others just use the "Show unread posts since last visit."

Steve,
A while ago I asked if there was a way to move the button down to the bottom so that I/we do not have to scroll to the top to get at it. Is there another way to get to "Show unread posts since last visit." quicker. I also have noticed sometimes that the unread posts will reset and I lose a batch of them. I believe it happens if I delete the "daily digest" e-mail before going to the web site and reading. It seems to wipe any posts connected with that e-mail so now I must keep the e-mail until I get through the unread messages.

I'll have to see if there is a good place to add additional buttons, the template is pretty crowded down.  Personally I just use the browsers back button when I'm using any of those quick view functions(the ones next to the avatar).

I'll prefix this with its not my code :) ... I added the topic and latest post snippets plus some formatting .... What you are seeing is probably something to do with how daily digests determine what is new to you ... Each digest is actually tuned to the user, so that it only mails out what was posted since your last visit.  Meaning if you visit during the day the output of the digest will be shorter then if you had not visited that day (it works a bit like show posts since last visit).  I believe it resets that last visit pointer when the digest goes out so it can determine where to pick for the next digest.

Steve,
The e-mail/daily digest is no big deal for me now.

If you can get an "unread posts" button down at the bottom I am sure others will realize its value quickly but I am in no hurry for it and really appreciate the forum and am just trying to get through the posts quicker than current method.

The winter scene threw me at first, where did the "view unread posts since last visit" go?  Moved to other side (right).

Thanks,
Rick

Glad you were able to find the link ... I had to move a few things around to get the header to work ... they will move back to the left side at the start of the year.  I almost forgot to put in all 4 of the options  :o

I'll take a look for where it could work in the "regular" theme since thats what will be shown most of the time. You may need to nudge me at the start of the year, busy working on making presents for now!

Hi Steve & Michelle,
First: just want you to know just how much I appreciate would you have done, and do.
Second: You may have to think about putting arrows, for us to follow, when you move things.  I am not sure
if you fully realize just how absolutely computer illiterate some of us are, or might be.  Or in my case, just plain stupid.  {:<)
