Windshield wiper control box

I finally got around to look at my intermittent wiper problem. They would not work unless I pushed the wiper button IN. Also on one trip, I would hit a bump and the wipers would come on. For that particular problem I installed a separate switch to cut off the power to the controller. As I began wiggling the 4 pin CONTROL connector on the control box, the wipers would work. Upon close examination of the contact pins of the control box, I could see that 2 were leaving "wipe" marks and two were not. A magnifying glass to look at the connector showed that two spring contacts in the connector were non existent. I looked up the Intellitec Dual Wiper Control box and found that the control cable was available for about $30.00 It was a nice day here yesterday and I decided to go to our local junk yard and see what I could find. I love walking around in junk yards but that is a story for another post. Within a few minutes I found a 4 pin connector with the correct spacing and it looked like it would work with the .040 square pins on the controller box and cut it off. I spliced in the new connector and the wipers now work like new.

Rick,

Those connectors used to be found on many computers and were known to corrode.  Suggest you use something like Corrosion X or Corrosion Block on them.
