Powertech 10KW Radiator Fan Control

Acting on a hint from a post about erratic operation of a Powertech Generator, I discovered then purpose of that unlabeled switch on the front of the control box for the generator. It is the power switch for the electric motor that drives the radiator fan.

We plan to spend a lot of time in subfreezing temperatures during the next month. I don't expect any temperatures below -15F. We may want to use the generator in case we are not hooked to good shore power. I would expect that it would be appropriate to leave the fan switch on and allow the thermostat to handle all temperature control. Are there any operating conditions under which I would want to turn the radiator fan off?

JD I've had  3 fortravels . have yet to see a switch for genset cooling fan . maybe a another owner would do that , but why ? makes no sense to me . auto thing all by it's self , why mess with it  .

I have that switch. It is labled "cooling fan circuit breaker". Had to change it once after it broke.

I too have had three FTs and have never had a switch labeled that way.  I had a 99 too.

Morning JD, that switch is the circuit breaker for the 120 V blower fan on your remote radiator, mine is is in the left front compartment(if you have a PT series powertech gen), even in very cold weather you should leave it on or your generator will overheat, the coolant themostat will keep your generator at the proper operating temp.
