IH-45 Photos & Video

Foretravel Marketing was kind enough to forward a couple of photos from today's IH-45 unveiling at the factory in Nacogdoches.

How things change over 40 years!  The coach on the left is #0048, a 1972 Foretravel.  Coach on the right is the new 2012 IH-45

If I recall from our tour back in October, yes, flat floor slides in the new member of the FT family.  There is a section of floor that drops a few inches to let the slide come in, raises to level after the slide goes out.  I think you can see that seam at the lower left of the interior photo.

It is a great looking unit. I like it. I love the first picture too.  Nice upgrade too. I also want to commend FT for sending the pictures. It is the first time they have done so and is a wonderful acknowledgement of the forum.  I think it is a win win for all of us and the new coach will give us a new entry in the highline market.

Tallk about something special !!! That flat floor is much like Newell has had for many years  I can see A loud clear message to Newell and the H3 ,[  HERE I COME  ] . I expect this is going to get some of their pie ! , and I hope it does . Think of the long hard planning that went into this coach . Sure hope they don't run out of ISX-650  engines . I know that the new ISX-600 is going to be good as it has about the same torque , by the time I am ready thats about what it will be .

I'll bet that interior photo doesn't compare to seeing the coach in person.  Even as a shell it had an amazing residential feel to it.  I hope we manage to get a good photo of the bath and shower areas - I remember even while they were still being finished out those areas felt so much like one in a custom home than what one expects to find in a motorhome.

I'm looking forward to seeing what engineering developments that helped build the IH-45 "trickle down" to the Nimbus and Phenix levels.  I'll bet there are some fabulous things that the new flagship's design will be "implementable" at the other price points.

I must  confess, I was there today for the introductory speeches and nibbles, I had to leave prior to the main meal, and the bringing the new coach up in front of the show room.  However I got about 5 minutes of movie film of the stripped down model in the show room, showing the floor, some partitions and mostly the ISX, radiator, lots of interesting things in the rear, then on to the water compartment, battery compartment.  As I departed, I drove down to where the real thing was parked, drove around it and took some shots of it.
Knowing I would be back Saturday, I hope to get a better look at it without the local crowd in the stampede.
I had my paint job on my mind, why I left early to check on my man cave. :) :)

WOW, I agree that Newell will be watching.
I was struck only by the tile work in photo three, a much better detailing could have been done, this is something that is seen and makes a first impression.

Barry & Cindy,

Thanks for the photos.  Has the showroom ceiling been raised?

The Tampa Super Show should be a good comparison of coach's, the IH 45 will be parked next to Featherlite on one side and next to a Parliament on the other, with a Marathon across the isle ;D.

That's nice, but WAY above my pay grade.

I looked at what appears to be SIX 8D batteries, and my immediate thought was, "I don't want that many batteries in my coach. For only $22,000+- we could get Xtreme to make the outside of our coach look new and beautiful." Then, "For only about $25,000+- (maybe way less) we could probably get FOT or MOT to make the inside of our coach look new and beautiful."

In the meantime, we'll enjoy our coach as it is, and hope the new IH-45 is successful so that Foretravel can continue to provide support and service.

Hi all,
That's a great looking coach! I like the outside TV storage compartment. I agree with Gary, concerning that tile work, at bottom entry/steps. I'm sure that can be cleaned up. Best of luck to Foretravel with our newest sibling!!

This might be a bit naive on my part, but I would not be surprised if Foretravel walks away from the show with a few orders in hand.  They certainly will get lots of good buzz.  The IH-45 is stunning and the interior is not over the top, instead having a very classy look to it.

Let's see ... if we forget the kids inheritance.  Oops.  I better not go there.

I'm sure they will, as soon as they have them available.  They responded very quickly to my post yesterday asking for photos and we've been e-mailing about how best for FT to be able to post them to ForeForums.

Karma to the "criminals"  ;)  And to you for coordinating the album.

I Googled that "HepvO" device shown in 2 photos.  It looks like a replacement for the air admittance valves/P traps.

The mosaic tile in the entry looks like glass - definitely hard to get a good photo and the iridescence doesn't help.

Those are also a nightmare to lay.  Even though they come on a mesh backing, they aren't all straight on that mesh and then they move a lot as you press them into the mastic.  It seems to show up a lot more with glass than the opaque stone or ceramic mosaic, especially with a high contrast grout shade.  I wonder why the designers like to use them so much?  To me they can sometimes look too "busy".

Hey, I'm not an interior decorator, but I thought the Small glass tile in the entry was overdone.  I think that the sides of the entry could use another material that could complement the glass tiles on the risers only of the steps.  Another "constructive" criticism is the way the driver's seat was covered to "sort of hide" the what appears to be an air bag that acordions" to cushion the driver's ride.  It just does not cut it for the class we're going after.  But these are very minor picky observations on my part.  Otherwise, I think that FOT has a home run going with this fabulous IH45...good job FOT Team!    :o
