T/V replacement

Hello all I know this topic is in here some where, but here we go anyway. I have a 99 U295 all t/v's, Bose, VCR, and Datron (which is not working) are original, and lots and lots of unlabeled wire and coax cable. So the 2011 project will be to replace some or all of it. I suspect the old Bose will have to go due to the lack of RCA jacks on the new TVs for sound, old Datron will go (obsolete), and the questions go on. Has anyone done some of this?

The new TV will still have Left/Right RCA Audio jacks.
It still needs them if you use Component (Red, Green, Blue) or (Yellow video) input.
Only HDMI (Hi Def) cable has audio included in the single cable.

Bruce, 
I presume you might be using HDMI connection from your satellite receiver to the new TV. Instead of replacing the Bose sound system,  you could buy a DAC (digital to analog converter) for the audio. Look at the back of you new set - most new TV sets have a digital audio output possibly labeled Tos-link. The interesting thing I found when I installed my new HDTV was the 1/2 second delay in audio. It seems the new TV sets take a little longer to process the audio than the audio taken directly from the jacks... of my Direc-TV receiver anyway. So if you notice this problem and want to hear synchronized sound from an adjacent set or from a Bose system, you could  invest about $60 on the internet for the DAC box. Mine was made by Gefen. (Google: Gefen digital audio converter) Don't forget to buy a Tos-link/fiber audio cable for the audio connection that probably is offered in the same listing.

I hope this doesn't confuse you, it certainly solved the audio problem I noted.

I installed the DAC box when I went to a 22-inch LCD Vizio TV. On this installation, the DAC drives the home theater sound system (NOT Bose) and what I lost was the MUTE. The only way to cut off the sound system is to turn the volume way down.

When I did my conversion I had to use a Radio Shack RF Modulator velco'd on top of VCC (Video Control Box) to enable Coax cable hook-up to the VCC.

I replaced my Datron with a Winegard HDTV satellite dish, DirecTV HD DVR, and Samsung LCD tv's, and had no issues with Bose connections, delays, etc.
