recovering Flexsteel

I emailed photos of my coach's drivers and passenger seats that have the original covers that have cracked and are not sexy . Young man says he will remove the seats and disassemble them and recover per factory design using a high quality vinyl that he says will out wear leather in terms of material cracking. Quoted me $275.00 bucks per seat. This seems very reasonable to me providing the job turns out nice. Wish you guys and gals would give some input and opinions. The guy says he will give references that will vouch for his quality of work.

The foam pieces were $75 to replace per Barry Leavitt some time ago.
I think $275 sounds great if it is Parts & labor .

I asked the DW about springing for me a 2001 model rig and she curled her lips up, why do they do that? That should have her soffened up for my updates. I will say "crap dear lady I must have something". See how that works for me.

Foretravel recovered our pilot and co-pilot seats in our 1993 U225 coach ... replaced all the foam and recovered them with Ultra Leather Brisa Distressed using the patterns they had for the original Flexsteel seats.  I can't speak for this young man's quality of work, but I would be willing to bet that he does not have those patterns.  However, for that price, you really can't complain.  Anything I intend to have recovered in my MH from now on will be reupholstered with the Ultra Leather.  It is wonderful stuff.  Ask him if he can show you a sample, or has ever used it.  With new foam, our seats were wonderfully comfortable.  Love to see what the finished product looks like!

The Brisa is the key!  It has "microperforations" that let in breathe, so it's much more comfortable than some of the other Ultra Leathers.  Perhaps "Brisa" = "breathe"?

We had our sofa redone in Ultra Leather Brisa at FOT in 2009.  Salsa red.  Love it!

We want to have our pilot/buddy seats redone at some point in time....  what color did you go with?  Any contrasting piping?

I plan to take the coach to his shop in a couple weeks. If this goes well I will have him do other interior work. The other furniture shows nearly no wear, sofa and recliner is fabric. Even still I would like to change it to brighten it up. His shop is near Texarkana Ark. When the project is done I will let you know how it went.

    I would be very interested in how it goes, as we are thinking of doing some interior work on our coach.  We travel in the Texarkana area often, and this location would work out great.

Having been in the Upholstery business off and on since 1949 (I quit so I could make some money) and having done hundreds of that style. The price is OK but would insist on the ultra or like kind.
A note "Blue does not reflect light and contrasting piping was a style of the 50es. New foam is a must.

I have a 1998 U270 with a recliner that is not bolted to the floor.  I would like to have a recliner that is bolted to the floor with a seat belt.  Would I be better served to see if the current recliner can have a seat belt installed and the recliner bolted in or just get a new Flexsteel recliner and have it installed?

Hey Brad, it has taken quiet abit longer than antisipated. Young man says with all the "pleats" and having more small cuts to do than he saw from the initial inspection, we are running over time. I admit that after being asked several times in the past 3 weeks if I was "in a hurry" I replied with no so I haven't pushed in the least. I did talk to him last friday and told him that it is supposed to rain this thursday and I need to pick it up before, he replied with OK. He told me he has pulled off the job to do some other 2 hr jobs. I didn't particularly care for that but i haven't leaned on this young man and should have from the start. I get frustrated at myself because I was allways bad about waiting to long to say anything and then saying to much if you know what I mean. I will give you the news when I pick it up and at that time I will tell him that I have people inquiring about his work and they live out of town and wont be able to wait like I have.

I picked up my coach yesterday afternoon and am very pleased with the finished work. I had him use two colors fabric for the seats and I really like the outcome. I also had the pedestals recarpeted that the seats are mounted to and equally pleased with the results there. Norvel had been sick  in bed for a week during this stay and I was unaware until yesterday. He said typically he would need a week for the job and that includes the carpet replacement. I hope to have before and after pics here today for those that may be interested. I will use the man for future work.
