Replacing fabric on cornices and window trim and replacing the day/night blinds

My wife wants to do some minor redecorating in our coach.  She wants to replace the fabric covers on the window cornices and the window trim as well as possibly replace the day/night window blinds.

1. How are the cornice panels removed and then reinstalled?
2. How are the day/night blinds removed and then reinstalled?
3. Are the day/night blinds used in our coaches the same as the day/night blinds for house windows or are they unique for our coaches?

Thank you very much.

The day/night blinds are likely an RV item.  We HIGHLY recommend MCD Innovations for replacements.  You'll love them, and per window they're not that much more expensive than the pleated style, and oh so much more attractive and cleanable!

The selected media item is not currently available.

We, the Stoltz's, the Savournins, the "Hams", and several others have had them installed.  Steve and I actually did our own installation while camping at MCD (and we live about an hour from their factory).  Next to the Koni FSD shocks, they're the best upgrade money we ever spent on our coach!

We also replaced our day-night blinds with MCD shades, and they are just as wonderful as Michelle says!  We also had or cornices redone when we had our couch and chairs reupholstered, and it seems like a new coach inside.  Haven't done the windshield yet, since we weren't going to be near MCD for a while, but it's on the list.

I agree with everything said so far.  Here is a suggestion.  Go to MCD first.  An appointment is necessary.  they do have limited hook ups of 50 amp service.  The cornices have to come off in order to do the shades, so just leave the cornices off and wrap them at your leisure and then re-install.

The window treatments are pretty much held in place with a custom-made washer and  with screws from underneath the window sills -- where sills are present.  Take a close look at your windows and you will see what I am talking about. It is not rocket science, but you need to be able to put your body into some twisted and uncomfortable positions.  Young guys like Steve can do this.  Me -- not so much.

In our 1993, we removed the 3 piece (2 sides and one top) valances and considered recovering them ourselves. They are not difficult to remove ... only some minor contortions involved in finding and detaching the pieces from the little "L" brackets that anchor them. If you are handy ... and you can stand pulling out 53,000 staples ... you could easily recover them.  In our 1995 coach, the windows had 1 piece things called "lambrequins", that also came down easily (once we found the screws that came up from beneath the windowsills).  We had the first ones reupholstered by FOT when we did a lot if interior remodeling, and the second we removed ourselves and ditched when we were at MCD to have shades installed.  They could, also, have been recovered ... but we are going with wood for a cleaner look.  The day/night blinds came down VERY easily ... just 2 or 3 screws along the top... and they are not horribly hard to restring, if you need to, and put back up.  I LOVE redecorating the coach.  Just now I am stuck with real leather that is not in bad shape, so I can't justify getting rid of it ... but the Ultra Leather is outstanding stuff.  I could just go on and on .....
