I replaced them on my 97 U320. Had a leak and because of the work involved changed out all hoses connected to tank.

Bob,
How bad was the project and how many hours did it take you to complete?  Did you replace the engine water lines going to the Aqua Hot at the same time?  I thought if I'm working in the center bays I might as well replace all that I can.

Thanks,
Brad

The tank had to come out. The biggest problem was no excess hose at the tank which required cutting the lines from the outside. If I ever have to do this again, which I truly hope is never,  I would break hose connections at the engine, generator & hydohot. Then feed hose as I pulled the tank out. As I did cut tank connections in advance I could not use the old hose to pull in the new. Most of the runs were not an issue, but the worst areas was where the hoses exit the basement on both ends. My wife and I did the entire project which I'm guessing took about four days start to finish.

Bob,
Thanks for the information.  I'm hoping to have a few more years before I tackle the hoses.  I just replaced the leaking fuel lines feeding the Aqua Hot, but I cheated and just replaced the leaking section by the fuel filter.  It was only leaking where it made the bend feeding the filter and so far so good.  When I replace the rest of the line I want to replace all the fuel lines...gen, AH and engine.

Thanks,
Brad

Brad,
I forgot to say that when we got the tank out I found the fitting for the generator supply was loose. If it was accessible it would have saved a whole lot of work.

Thank you for the responses. Just to let everyone know I have found out that the refineries are putting additives in the fuels like they are doing to gasoline's which deteriorate the rubber hoses. Since my hoses are showing signs of leaking I want to replace the engine and generator hoses completely. So I need information on how to remove the fuel tank on a 1998 U295.

I have noticed that my Dodge Turbo Diesel is leaking again.  Are there any new hose formulations that will survive the low sulfur fuel and its additives?  Speaking of additives, what is best for lubricating the old mechanical fuel injectors?

To remove our fuel tank, we pumped out (drill-pump) almost all fuel, unbolted 4 tank floor bolts and lifted tank partly out of coach so we could get a wrench on hose fittings, then all the way out. You may be able to remove some or all hoses prior to tank removal. Reverse to install.

When I replaced the generator fuel line, I used Lawrence marine3/8 USCG approved type A1-15, it has a 2 hour burn rate and is approved for under deck use, I dont know if it is available in larger size's.
This hose is a novaflex 360-09 by Lawrence Marine.

I cheated, did not have time to empty fuel tank and and pull it to get to connections.  I ran new fuel line, top grade Napa sells and spliced old fuel line into new fuel line above fuel tank. Left enough new hose to complete run when time permits.
