Dash A.C.

Hi FT Folks

I have a question regarding dash air. My air controls are not working I know that my vacuum generator is not working. I removed the vacuum generator. it looks like a venture type vacuum pump. There is air pressure to the pump. There is also power to the pump.  There is no company markings on the generator on who makes this generator. My coach is a 04 U320 42' Can any of you nice people help. Thank You Karl

Karl,

If only your air controls are not working it may be the tiny motor that controls the doors.  Just had FOT replace ours. Easy to replace-3 wires...bugger to get to it...If you decide that may be what the problem is let me know and I will send you more information and DW did take some pictures of them working on replacing...

If the dash air works but floor and defrost don't that is probably your problem.

Hi Machelle

Thank you for your reply. I  see Steve replaced your vacuum gen. with a electric vacuum pump. Do you know what kind he used?

The company that made the original pump is no longer in business? There are no mfg. markings on the pump.

I have another question do you know who sells SMC-AR20 pressure regulators I have one that controls the front air bags.    It leaks?

We got our pump from FT parts.  Steve recalls it being a Bosch (probably cheaper from NAPA), but our receipt is in our coach which is currently in storage so I can't look up the p/n.  I'm not sure if the manufacturer is out of business or just doesn't make that part anymore, but FT doesn't stock the replacement.  It *might* be in your coach parts list (again, ours is in our large box of manuals in the coach, unfortunately it's not handy).

I've asked Steve over there on the other sofa to chime in  ;)

If it's the regulator about mid-coach with a dial on it, also the same regulator used for the step cover, look to Lowes or Home Depot for an inexpensive replacement.  Here's a thread with some photos

Air leak up front -- need your advice

To replace it, you'll need to dump the air.  Be sure to follow proper safety protocols, including safety blocks and wheel chocks.

Karl,

You might try NAPA for the regulator as well, if you're already going there.  IIRC, that's one of the sources MOT suggested to us.
