curious about mpg on newer coaches

Hi group,

How have the newer 600 and 650 engines been perfoming?  Anyone breaking 6.0 mpg on the highway? Maybe that's optimistic.

Ed Schriendorfer told me he was breaking 6 and in fact said he was getting about 7 on his silver leaf but alas, I can not ask him.

You determine the fuel mileage with your right foot / cruise control.Run 70++ or 65, there is a large difference in the cost per mile.
Size of engine just makes for larger swings in cost per mile.
If you drive it like you stole it, yup it will cost, drive it like you have some sense and the result is workable.
What I do not understand is why one would spend such big money for a 600-650 hp coach, then bitch about the fuel cost, That just does not compute :o unless you purchased it to look good in your driveway.

Totally agree, Dave.  When the average depreciation on an $800,000 coach with a residual value of $200,000 after 15 years is over $3,000 per month...what's an extra $50 a month for fuel for the 2 MPG less you get with the BIG BOY?

My buddy is a Cummings and Volvo dealer for big trucks and he claims driving around 1300 to 1400 rpm's he said that is optimal for fuel millage, so with the fuel prices I have been driving around 62 mph at 1350 rpm's.

Dave I don't think anyone was complaining. The question was what kind of fuel mileage where the newer Foretravels with the big power getting for fuel mileage.
