Nasty Valve Stem Extensions

Our coach came with valve stem extensions for the inside rear duals. One cracked right next to the threads in the FOT campground while I was checking tire pressures. Cost for replacing valve stem? $90

Passenger side cracked (same place on stem) while almost home but run flat for 280 miles.(couldn't feel anything different as our coach is lighter than newer, bigger FTs) Cost for replacing valve stem, 235-80R-22.5 tire, plus a straight in air chuck? $561.30

NO MORE VALVE STEM EXTENSIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!

I know, I know---Insurance would have covered, but we are new to this.

Are you sure your insurance policy would have covered an issue with valve stems and tires?
George Stoltz.  Retired from full-time living in a great Foretravel and now are back to living in a traditional sticks and bricks in Florida.

I think road service call would have been covered but not run flat damage to tire and not mechanical failure of valve stem. Also, inside dual was mfd in 2004. Kinda hard to read manufacture date between tires!

Running with 1 dual flat overloads the remaining tire, so that failure for that remaining tire may be close at hand even after replacing the flat.

That makes more sense.  I was going to ask you who you insure with.  A 2004 tire has served past its prime in my humble opinion.  Most important thing is that you got home safe!

If you ran on the remaining dual, you should look to change that one out too. It has been degraded and could fail and you will start the whole process again.

I have run this system on 3 motorhomes. No problems.
