my new VMS pc dash holder

As I have the Silverleaf VMSpc monitor program I found my reg' size laptop did not seem to look right while driving so I bought a 10" Netbook and set the screen up to fit. This meant I needed a bracket/holder or? to put it on and not get in the way of my vision thru the windscreen. I made up a Aluminum arm that clips to the cup holder/whatever to the right of driver. This arm is put together so only a tight fit is holding it on and a 8x12 plywood base that I laminated and edge taped. I am very pleased with the result and it sits tight. Here are a few pics of the finished product.

Great idea. I have the same type of cup holder assy. I may do something similar. Thanks for the photo's.

Very innovative use of readily available materials.  I am not clear how you attached the aluminum arm to the cub holder assembly.

I am confused. From your pictures, it looks like your netbook would be just as happy sitting on the dash behind the cupholder. Am I missing something?

Two answers in one .
George, the arm is held onto the "cup holder" because I measured and made the top and bottom peice to be a friction fit (with a thin piece of felt to sit on both the top and lower piece to protect the finish of holder) so that you really have to push it on. As there is not too much weight on the top base, the arm stays put.

Yes and no. you are right in so much that being small the computer could just sit on the dash, but then your head/eyes have to tilt down a bit to see the screen, and in that time it may be all you need to lose vision and have an accident. I actually did a trial run in that situation to prove to myself it was worth the 30 mins of work to design and make it.(not including the painting)
PLUS-
you get to take it off and reverse the position of bracket, and sitting in the drivers seat it becomes a very easy way to type and send e-mails, sort of like a desk if you will. Think about it !! The other good point is it can be removed very easily and put away and no damage to the coach.
