Aqua Hot Muffler replacement

Our exhaust pipe rusted off at the output side of the muffler for the Aqua Hot system.
When I talked to Aqua Hot a few years ago, they stated that Foretravel was about the only OEM that installed a muffler on their coach.

Has anyone replaced the exhaust pipe and muffler? If so, source of the muffler?

I have a friend with a 2000 U320 who just ran a straight pipe from Aqua Hot to the orginal position on the side of the coach and that seems to work fine. That may be my option also.

I do not know for sure, but have been told an unmuffled Aqua Hot exhaust makes a lot of noise, why Foretravel installs the muffler.  AS said, I DO NOT know for sure, just a report I had.

When mine rusted out, we checked with Aqua-Hot and they recommended no muffler. So we just had a straight pipe put on. Used slightly larger pipe. It is a little louder, sort of a hollow sound, but not too bad.

Most Aqua-Hot installations do not use muffler.  The only noise you hear is air moving and you have to stand right next to the exhaust pipe to hear it.

Any automotive muffler shop can build a replacement exhaust pipe.  You should upgrade the exhaust to 1 ¾" ID (2"OD) pipe.  That will not only make your Aqua-Hot run better, but will quiet it down quite a bit.

That's the info that I was looking for.
I knew that there was something about resizing, but couldn't find it.
If I duplicate the original layout or straight to the wheel well (with proper bend at end), that shouldn't make a difference, right?
I'll wrap it with heat cloth, just like org.

I'm off to my "favorite" muffler shop next week. Actually an old sailing friend. That should be good for a whole afternoon.

Great topic description.

I just gave you some applause because you chose the best words for your topic.
In a year or two or even when I need to take care of my A-H exhaust system I will search for Aqua Hot Muffler and this topic will show up. 

Of late, when I start a new topic I try to use words that accurately reflect the topic as you have done here. That way it will help someone find the topic later on.

You should be able to follow the exact layout of your existing exhaust.

Most exhaust pipes do not have insulation around them, however it does not hurt.

Replaced the exhaust pipe with 1 3/4", single piece, no muffler. Original was 1 1/2".
Removed the black pipe elbow from the bottom of the Aqua hot to make the job easier.

Roger Berke suggested going to 2" but the black pipe nipple was only 1 1/2" When we tried a 2" pipe on the nipple, we couldn't squeeze the id down enough to make a good fit on the nipple. So went with the 1 3/4" and that worked out better. Followed the original layout, but didn't reinstalled the insulation as it was in bad shape.
Both hanger brackets had to be reformed. Don't know what happened to them in their previous life.
