Barry,
Don't you just love the Trip Planning software?  I swear by it (still using the 2009 version:  will update to the 2012 at the end of this year).

It looks like this summer our paths will not cross.  But it sure is a nice trip.  Enjoy!

You all make me jealous. We are still here in Oklahoma getting the house ready for selling. We can't wait to be full time full timers, we've only been part time full timers the last two years.

It's a spiffy house and 5 secluded acres 9 miles from Norman, Oklahoma, the Mecca of College Football if anyone is interested.

In 2 weeks we go to Portugal and Spain then back mid June (family from England coming) then Calgary Stampede in July. August not sure yet but then away (planning) in November to Australia for 3 months. We will get away for a few short trips in the coach but nothing serious this year. Boring life !!

Barry:  what route are you taking from Breckenridge to Pueblo?,  CO 9 through fairplay?  There is some fairly tough mountain driving that way.  easier way would be 91 to Leadville, 24 to Buena Vista, 285 to Salida, and 50 to Pueblo.  Also prettier route.  Norm

Norm,
I have gone both ways depending on how adventurous I feel.
Usually I will back track I-70 to I-25, a lot less work.
The last time is when my retarder stopped working.

The last time we were there we stayed at https://paysoncampground.com/
Nice campground.
Great hiking trails.
I lost my phone on the trail & as luck would have it someone was riding an ATV & saw something shiny & it was my phone. He called someone on my phone list & it turned out to be Barry Leavitt & he called me to tell me my phone was found as I was signing for a new one at Verizon.  ::)

In S&T you can show campgrounds around the location you are headed to & it will give you a list to choose from.
I also use "Trailer Life" & "Big Rig Best Bets" http://www.big-rigs-rv.com/ every site is checked for Big rig Friendly.

Will be in Tucson till May 3rd.
Head to Williams, Arizona till May 6-7 for Grand Canyon N.P.
Scoot around to see the North side of G.C.N.P.
Then to Zion N.P., Bryce N.P.,
Head to Leadville, Colorado July 10-26Th (with a flying trip to the Outer Banks for a week)
Rocky Mountain N.P., Grand Teton N.P., Yellowstone N.P.
Hope to be in Glacier N.P. the first two weeks of September,

And anything we decide to see while on the road..

Then have to think about how to get back to Arizona sometime the middle of November.

No schedule, no reservations. Should be an interesting 5-7 months.

See ya all down the road.

We are only strangers until we meet; however, some of us are stranger than others

We'll be volunteering for the summer at a Nature Conservancy preserve (Flat Ranch) in Island Park, ID (near West Yellowstone.)  We're scheduled to be there May 28 (assuming snow permits...) through Labor Day.  Give a holler when you're in the Yellowstone area, and we'll try to get together!

Barry,
If you need a overnight stop from Salt Lake City to Grand Tetons I stayed at a little RV park in Shelly, ID.  It is located about two miles of I 5 and is big rig friendly.  They just have power and water at the site, but do have a dump site you can use before heading back out.  It is a great little park right on the banks of the Snake River and only $16.  They even have a paved RC airstrip.  Untitled Document

Thanks,
Brad

Will be leaving Pelican Lake MC Resort on Mother's Day heading north to Fernandina Beach, then central Georgia and then to TN RV, hopefully to get the fan and/or heat exchanger in the bathroom fixed. I may need it next fall. Then home to Johnson City, TN.
No RV! Have hung up the keys.

We're still planning on ABQ in June.  Then likely Santa Fe or Flagstaff in July, and then probably Colorado or Ruidoso in August.  We haven't made reservations anywhere yet since we need to get some work done in Nac before we head out (new seats, carpet, fix the leveling problem).

Barry, you are such a hero, I and my wife as a token of repayment, have an offer for you, if you're brave enough to leave the Interstates.  (I recall a Park Ranger, more than 10 years ago, complimenting all of us at the beginning of an early evening "fireside" chat a Big Bend, for "being brave enough to leave the Interstates and come down here.")  We would like you to come park at Rancho Andyeo....

50 miles south of Pueblo, in Walsenburg, catch US160 west.  Go over La Veta Pass (don't be full of water or fuel) to Ft. Garland.  Go south on CO159 through San Luis, the oldest town in Colorado (the San Luis Valley is what you will traveling in until Taos, with the Rio Grande wandering off your right 10 miles, sometimes 2) which becomes NM522 at the border.  At MM 23 (3 miles before Questa, just after Kit Carson Propane tanks on right, turn left (east) onto Llano road (El Buen Pastor Church at this intersection).  Go over 3 speed bumps, then take a 45 left onto a dirt road, also signposted Llano.  You are less than 1 mile from our house, but the road is rough.  UPS, Mormons, and Jehovah Witness, do not come up this road.  My brother calls it a "two beer" road because he goes slowly in his 5th-wheel, bigger than my FT, and never finished the second one before parking.....

We have a 50 amp plug in, water tap, and dump conveniently located on a circle drive, no backing necessary.

If my road sounds like too much, the BLM has a campground 5 miles away where the Red River and the Rio Grande meet.  Eagles are often seen there as they nest along the cliffs of the rift about the rivers.  If you leave early enough the next day, you will see balloons floating above the Rio Grande as you approach Taos.

Although shorter, this route may take longer, but the scenery is improved.  We prefer white wine, but if that is not to your liking we probably will have some locally made (ABQ) GUET on hand.  Let us know....
