Leveling

Help!  The travel mode failed to come on and the front of the MH was down after the air pressure came up.  I stopped and used the manual button to raise the front end.  The front was a little high but drivable.  I traveled about 25 miles to my son's house.  The MH leveled fine,but now, the next day, the light still will not come on.  I dumped the air once, releveled but it would not dump again.  When I dumped, the rear dumped but the front did not.  Any help, sugestions will be appreciated.  Only the air buttom seems to be working. It turns the leveling system on and off.

Check the connector on the back of the control panel that it is properly connected.  If the battery disconnect switch by the front door is off, it won't level, but the travel mode will work, so that's probably not the problem.  Then check the connections at the box in the compartment with the aux compressor. That's about all I know.

Based on having a 1998 coach, I'm going to guess you have a 600 series HWH.  Here is the manual for the Foretravel version which includes troubleshooting.

   Found a loose plug on the control board, slid it back on but the coach will not go into travel mode.  Now I can level manually If I can level it to bag height of 8 inches would it be safe to drive providing that it will hold level?  How do I recycle the system if that is possible?

Yes, I think it would be okay to drive as long as the bags are at approximatlely the correct 8" travel height

If it's the same as on our 99 U270, it's mounted on the "ceiling" of the passengers side (I think) center compartment.  Look for an aluminum box.

Does the '98 have a master warning switch on the leveling system/  If so, where is it located?

We had a problem with the leveling system on our 99 U320 at the end of March after having been camped in FL for 3 months... all the lights would come on and nothing would happen... MOT looked at the problem and replaced the touch pad panel and it seemed to work OK... we stayed at their lot and that night it "went bad" again.. ie same symptom... so the next morning they decided it was the "brain box" and since they didn't have one and would have to order one to be built we continued on our travels.... The idea was to have one shipped to a place where we would be staying for a few days...

Well, when we got to that place (Oasis RV park in Amarillo which we picked because they had a service facility on site) my wife noticed that they advertised service on leveling systems.... and asked them to take a look at ours.... The head mechanic jumped right in and opened up the "brain box" and found a mouse nest... jammed full... and some wire insulation had been eaten off and there were some shorts... He cleaned out the nest, applied insulating tape on all the bad wires... put it back together and it has been working ever since just fine... then we called MOT and told them to cancel our order for a new "brain box" which they said would have be about $945... Cost in Amarillo... $40 + a $20 tip... 

We REALLY like MOT... but this might have been a little embarrassing for them...  The other stuff they worked on then and the other times we've used them we've been VERY happy...
