New Seats and a Stained Glass Window

Well, I spent a couple days in David F's remod shop. He and his crew installed a couple of new chairs, step coverings and a stained glass window. The seats are the same seats in that are in the New IH 45 an air ride drivers seat with a spanish woven leather insert and a recliner passenger seat. I also had a new recliner done as well with the same leather and had a stained glass window put in the front of the slide out. It has changed the entire look of the coach.

I have to say that FT remod shop is wonderful and they did the job better than expected, on budget and on time. David and his group did a fantastic job.

Have to take them still. The coach is kind of apart now for repairs so I will do it when they put it all back together.

Here is a picture of the window. That one will not show the plastic on the floor the and the drop cloths and the slide blocks being replaced. This was placed in the front window of the living room slide. Got this done up at Glass Castles in Nac. they work with FT for all their windows on the coaches and knew just what to do. They make up a black and white drawing then send it too you by email and you can talk with them and adjust what you want. Then you get a colored version and you can adjust that. IT was not very expensive and it adds a great splash of color and pleasing light.

We're looking forward to seeing it all in person in the next day or two. That window is just beautiful!

We're also excited about the upgrades (Nimbus-style seats, new carpet) that David and his team will be doing on our coach in the upcoming week+.

It is not that expensive. In fact if that was the only cost I would have been jumping for joy.

The seats are nothing but awesome. That and the headboard in the BR are my favorite upgrades. I will say that David F. at FT is amazing. Got a wedge pillow too for the couch done at the same time.

The stained glass looks very nice. How is the glass panel adhered to the slideout window?

They made the window with a special metal edge so that it can be installed. Then there is a double layer of D gasket one on the window and one on the stained glass and then it is pushed onto the window. Then they used cut pieces of cherry wood and attached them to the frame and screwed the frame in.

Very sweat install.

Thanks. For clarity, was the existing window replaced altogether by the new window you described? Or, is the new stained glass adhered to the existing window by the method you described?

No it is too hard to remove the existing window. I have it right up against the window and it looks awesome from the outside, especially at night.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. Beth dables in stained glass and I've been whispering in her ear about doing a piece for the Forrest...

I agree that it will look great from the outside as well. Hope you're ready for all the on-lookers and all the new acquaintances you will make when camping.

There is a half inch grooved lead frame around it so you can file it down to fit flush.

You're taking the saying "you only live once" to new levels. Congratulations on the new modifications to your coach. And, they look great, but you'll also feel incredibly good driving down the road...

I will say in the bumps are a bit different on I 20. I kind of bounce a bit now....The air seat is the expensive one. The other is not as bad but the coach is an 01 and it was time.

Good choice.
Thats the Knoedler drivers seat Phil Bostrom & I put in 2 years ago & it is the best investment I have made.
When you hit a bump the coach goes up but the seat does not.
Just like you were floating.

We got to see them in person yesterday. John and Linda even let us sit in them.

They are fabulous! They really look great in the coach, too. And that window! Now I am thinking (run, Steve, run

) about replacing our leaded glass inserts with custom stained glass pieces.

David F. has our seats are still boxed, protected, and we haven't peeked. Ordered the carpet yesterday morning. More Nacogdoches stimulus money
