Puck lights

I bought LEDs to change out for the halogens.  Ran into 3 of them that are stubborn.  I can not get the outer metal ring off.  33 of them came off no problem but not these 3.  Any suggestions from any of you that have this problem?  one turns as it should but will not come off and the other 2 will not turn at all.  All help would be appreciated

I had one ring that I could not turn with my fingers and finally used large slip-joint pliers.  That is when I found it would turn slightly in the direction to tighten but only very slightly.  I decided that it was already in the "remove" position and simply pried it off.  I think I used a putty knife but it may have been a screwdriver.  As it turns out, the ring was a snug fit and there was a piece of plastic jammed in the way to keep it from turning.  Once I had it off and the foreign matter removed it went back on with no problems other than being just a bit more snug than the others.

If it hasn't been changed in awhile, furniture polish, wax, etc. get between the ring and fabric/wood and "glues" it there.  Something that will not harm the fabric or wood that can be slid between the surfaces, like a plastic putty knife, to see if it is glued.
When you twist, try both directions.  The back and forth motion might help free it.

Hi Gerard,
You might try carefully using a dull/worn putty knife to loosen the rings stuck to the ceiling due to the extreme halogen heat. It goes in about 1/2" all the way around - you'll feel the fixture with that tool. I found this loosens them up readily unless the ring has been glued to the fixture or the ceiling - they do fall off readily if the ring catch as been broken.  A friend of mine also suggested using a jar lid removing strap to increase your grasp and torque.

Good luck, I have some in the bedroom I can't remove either.

Thanks for the advice, got them off by prying with a butter knife.

On this same subject, I replaced a bulb in the puck lite above the sink and now it will not stay lit.  I have bent the pins in several different ways and still the bulb vibrates or comes loose and lite goes out.  I have not figured out how to remove fixture from cabinet to examine the bulb connector and if you have suggestions I would like some help.
Thanks

Gary,
On our puck lights, the brass bezel twists off to uncover 2 small screws. I use a piece of that pebbled shelf liner to get a better grip on the bezel.
