Low air pressure - dash front air gauge

Before I began my last trip, the dash front air gauge would not go over 40 pounds.  The dash rear gauge was normal at 110 pounds.  I was unable to detect an air leak. Before I departed, I made a call to the service department at MOT and was told that it should not be a problem and that it would be safe to continue my trip.  During the trip, the dash front gauge would move between 15 and 40 pounds. The reading on the dash rear air gauge stayed over 100 pounds.  Everything seemed to function normally.  Any suggestions on what might be the cause of this problem and how to repair would be appreciated.

A bad guage, most likely.

What air pressure readings front and rear have you had up until this time?  Said another way, from what (low) cut in PSI to what (high) cut out PSI have you been running?

It is simple to install a T with the electric aur gauge, add a mechanical gauge beside it for a double check.
On my 01 320, both Pri and Sec tanks are visable from the right front wheel position.  Would use a good (Tuff) quality mechanical gauge

Hi Russell,
I could be a pressure sender gone bad,a corroded electrical connection to the sender or wiring to it (sender applies ground). Take the wire off the sender - see if it has 12 VDC with ignition key on. Test voltage on the other sender too. You also could swap senders, sender connections or the gauge connections to see if the problem follows a swap.

The rear gauge cut in is about 95 psi and the cut out about 110 psi.  The front gauge is about 30 to 40 psi less than the rear and I don't recall it changing much.
Where is the sender located?

Senders are on the tanks.
