Awning Repair Tape

Wondering what is the best product for awning repair. Our large awning is in great shape except for three spots. In two places (each side) there is a small rip right next to the edge stitching and the awning has pulled away slightly on one side where it joins the folding metal cover (photo is actually small awning with arrow showing the area). Camping World and others sell a clear awning tape and I've come across several other tapes (e.g. Uglu). Anyhow, any recommendations? Thanks.

jor,
I have a Zip Dee awning and was able to receive the original material from the manufacturer. Their instructions were to adhere the patch with silicone.

Mine are ZipDee also. Silicone? I never would have thought of that. Thanks, Jim.

jor,
Yes, silicone - in their instructions. With a light layer of silicone on both surfaces ..I held the patch in place with boards clamped on each side until the silicone was set. My 3" tear was above the entry door, from having it open and while putting out the main awning. Live and learn.

I also have Zip Dee, and have a couple of spots where the previous owner let the door rub the awning. As Jim said Zip Dee told me the same thing original material and silicone and roll it up until dry. However it sounds like you have an area that has some stress on it, I don't know if the silicone deal will work. I would give Zip Dee a call and get their advice they are very helpful.

Jor ... I called Zip Dee and asked them about those spots. They told me to use their fabric and silicone. The spots I showed you when you bought the coach are from the screw heads inside the aluminum shield rubbing on the fabric while stored and you are going down the road. My concern was that they were near the side seams, while not yet through the stitching. They also told me that for small holes in the main body of the awning, a fabric patch stuck on with silicone was the way to go ... patch the otp of the awning, and it is invisible to you while you are under it.  Zip Dee has great customer service.
