Pressure Pro Sending Units maybe on sale.

I just got an email ad from Camping World offering Hopkins MFG. Tire Pressure Monitor sending units 2 for $49.99. Hopkins Mfg Co - Hopkins Tire Pressure Monitoring System Sensors, 2-Pack - Tire

In checking the internet, it appears that both the Hopkins and the Pressure Pro sending units look identical and both operate on 433.92 mhz. Has anyone tried to use the Hopkins sending units with the Pressure Pro monitor?

I found a couple of posts on other forums that were negative about the Hopkins system but only a couple, same as with Pressure Pro. My experience is that the sending units may be made by the same Chinese manufacturer and are identical. The only difference may be the price and brand name.

They certainly look the same and I currently need two replacements.  I would like to hear if anyone has tried them with Pressure Pro.  One thought is the signal sent might be different even though the frequency is the same.

Ron, I'm no radio expert but as far as I know if the frequency is the same I think it would have to work. Unless I hear otherwise, I'm going to order 4 of them. I have written confirmation that they can be returned to Camping World within 30 days with the original packaging. We pay the shipping, of course, but for that price its worth a try if they work. I'm betting they will.

I look forward to learning how these work for you.

There only on sale for a short time. If you don't get them now at $55/pair they will be $77/pair later. I will not have received them by the time the sale ends so you may wish to give them a try yourself.

Quote from Hopkins Tire monitoring system - Escapees Discussion Forum
I can shed a bit light on this as we used and sold the Hopkins system over a year ago. When they were 1st starting up the sensors were the major holdup. The Hopkins systems we received had Pressure Pro sensors in the box with PP's name on them. When I questioned them, they said they had contacted PP and they agreed to supply the sensors til the b/o was filled.

We had and used the Hopkins system for over 6 months and did have enough problems after the 1st two months that I no longer had the confidence to sell the product.

We now use and sell the TST system and for us it is night and day on it working. It has saved us twice since we started using it and we've traveled almost 3,000 miles with it. It has worked flawlessly.

A reply to Kent:  Frequency is only one aspect of the signal, data rate and encoding are other aspects.  In this case it appears that the sensors will work with Pressure Pro but, based on the on the Escapees note, I would not bother.  It is one thing for an end user to bad mouth something, entirely another if a seller refuses to carry it.

Actually, my research showed that the original Hopkins sensors were the primary cause of their early problems. They were not the Pressure Pro sensors. The Hopkins system is supposedly much more reliable now with the PP type sensors but I have had my problems with the real Pressure Pro sensors myself. The monitor will not recognize two of the new PP sensors and another one leaks.

I guess I will find out about the Hopkins, I ordered 4 Hopkins sensors today. You can't beat the price and Camping World will take them back.

I hear that Hopkins tire pressure monitor works quite well. And is probably the same as Pressure Pro which works very well for us for over 5 years without any problems. Great to always know a tire's PSI, day or night, parked or rolling. It appears that Hopkins uses the same sensor programming as Pressure Pro, where the set points, alarm transmissions and PSI reporting is within each sensor. Basically the dash monitor just reports pressure and problems sent to it from tire sensors.
