Gordon, there is not much we can help you with until we know more about your coach. What year and model coach do you have? Did anything unusual occur before the system died? The more detail you can give us the more feedback you will get.

Welcome to the Forum. You'll be amazed at the expertise available here and how willing everyone is to help you.

I learned the hard way.  Always check the easy way first.  Check for loose wire or connection.

What year coach (model) do you have? Stock camera and monitor still on your coach?

We are only strangers until we meet; however, some of us are stranger than others

Hey, we all started on this forum with post #1. Go to profile and fill in your info, coach, model, etc, etc. That way we can see what model you have and better resolve problems. Good to supply as much info in the message as you can.

OK, here is a photo of what you should see under your dash if you have a GV. Look at the top of the photo to see the fuse listings and then to the small fuse block toward the bottom of the photo. Your monitor fuse is in the left hand row, the second (bright yellow) from the bulkhead (side away from you). This should be a 5 amp fuse. Buy at any car parts store.

If you have the owner's books, you can trace out the electrical system and identify wire codes, fuses, etc.

Pull and visually check other fuses if this is not the problem. Nice to have a 12V test light also when you troubleshoot.

Let us know if this solves the problem.

You have probably already checked this but when my backup camera will not come on it is a reminder that I forgot to turn the battery disconnect switch on.

Thanks everyone.  The coach is a 2002 U320 3620 which I just purchased.  I don't know when or why the screen quit working.  There is a faint flash on the screen when the power switch is turned on, but that is all.  After reading through the manual, it seems that this screen also provides information such as outside air temperature, holding tank status, etc.  I will try to remove the dash cover although that looks to be challenging.  I will provide updates.  Just drove the coach home to Washington state from Houston without the cab air working.  Long, hot trip.

Removal not necessary.  Mine is hinged.  Just lift up from the cockpit side.

On our '03 (and probably Gordon's '02) the dash cover is just an interlocking fit - no hinges.  Here are some instructions I sent to Jeff and Carol

Steve says opening the dash is somewhat "brute force".  He usually starts by pressing on the middle horizontal surface at the seam behind the radio, right at the interface between the horizontal and the back of the dash cowl.  Gets his fingers under the back edge of the cowl and slowly and carefully pulls the back up, spreading the load a little to keep the cowl from flexing too much.  Generally pretty clumsy.  It's all an offset, interlocking fit - no fasteners in the cowl (at least in ours).

Great advice from Michelle.  Got the cover off without a hitch.  Unit has power to it, but does not come on.  May have to try to find some electronic expert to trouble shoot.  Thanks for the comments.

Gordon,

Can you post a photo of the monitor or at least some make/model identifying info?  Some of us may have the same unit (or may have had it at one time) and might have the manual or experience to help.

Feel free to edit your profile to add the year, model and build number of your coach, too.  Some of us also add this to our signature (done in the profile).  This makes it easy for anyone reading your post to know what generation coach you have.  The build number is contained within the info on the build plate next to the driver's seat.  It will start (for you) as F02 then 4 digits for the build number.  This number is also really helpful when calling the factory for assistance or parts.  See the example here What is a coach #?

Just as a point of interest, replacing the original system can be as low as $200 and as high as $5000 for the ultimate electronic information system. Most of us get by for less than $500.

Gordon,
Didn't the salesmen/service people explain that you could run the generator and the roof A/C while on the road? Until you get the dash air fixed, you can keep the inside comfortable that way. There will be times, even with a functioning dash air, you will have to run the roof air to keep inside cool.

I did run the generator and house air, but at 106 degrees in the sun, it was still hot.  Did get the AC charged and it is now working.  The monitor which is still not working is a Javelina.  The folks at both Javelina and Foretravel indicated the voltage is supposed to be 3 volts off of the 12v basic system.  Foretravel said about 9 volts.  I am currently getting 13.7 (12v+).  Foretravel found an old power unit so it is currently on the way and I will try that.  Anyone else have trouble with the Javelina system?  Foretravel said they have replaced some, but need to replace the entire system from the sending units and camera to the monitor as no other monitor is compatible with the Javelina system.  So far really like the way the coach handles and we are heading off to South Dakota with daughters family and grandkids next week (monitor or not).

Have you checked the power supply? It should provide 12 volts to the monitor. The voltage regulator in the power supply adds 5 volts to what ever the power supply gets from the coach then regulates that total down to 12 volts. Lauri at Javelina Corp can e mail the print and instructions of what voltage you should have on the different terminals of the power supply.
