Front AC

On I70 the front overhead air failed in 100+ heat.  I was able to contact Ron at Innovative Coach in Wichita and he got me in to look at it.
Unfortunately it is toast . We are parked at Innovative awaiting Fed EX on Monday.
Temp Y'day 110, little less today, Rear air plus fan keeping us barely comfortable but things could be worse.

ACK! That just happened to us in Nac in June only we lost the rear air and had to wait out the Memorial day weekend for our new air. Buy a breeze box fan to move the air around. If it gets really hot go see a movie. That what Dori & I did...

We never made it to the sculpture garden in Loveland we were on the go the whole time and didn't make it. It will have to wait for a future trip. We've been in Estes Park all week and enjoying the heck out of the scenery and the weather. We move back to Chief Hosa today. The campground is full for the weekend and we couldn't extend our stay. :(

Here is a pic I took of Longs Peak from the porch of the Stanley Hotel maybe it will make you feel a little cooler. (notice the snow!)  :D

Good luck and hope you make it home safe and sound

Life ain't fair, with no front air we are depending on Rear air and fan in 100+ temps.  This AM the rear AC froze up and it now looks iffy, will probably have to move to a motel if I can't keep rear AC from freezing.  I am on high fan and I reduced the temp setting to give AC chance to defrost.  Don't know what else to do.

Can you rig shade? Can you put a fan on the roof?

Gary, I have been going through the same issues. Temps here in OKC running around 105 daily. My rear air went out about a month ago. Put a new Penguin in but had to use the manual air box with no freeze guard. It freezes up on a regular basis but buy switching over to straight air, no A/C, for about 10 minutes it thaws the ice and starts working correctly when I turn the compressor back on. This usually only happens one time per day. I have been told the more air you push through the fins, the less likely they are to freeze up. Keep the temperature setting a little less than full cold seems to help prevent freezing also.

I now have my new thermostatically controlled air box with freeze guard and will install it tomorrow or Monday. I sure hope it is quieter than the manual air distribution box. The new A/C's are noisier than the old ones because they have to push more air to get equivalent cooling due to the new refrigerant I am told.

How is your refrigerator holding up in this heat. I think with the two vent fans and an interior fan I have the problems licked. My top shelf is at 30 degrees and my bottom shelf is at 40. Our outside heat right now is 102.

I was in Wichita last week. You can come to Oklahoma and be just as miserable with slightly better scenery. We are going to be a Fort Cobb Lake next week. Come On Down!!!

Kent, Info I have is that I will be able to reuse present air box.  They are going to put in a conversion kit to digital, new thermostat, phone plug converter on ribbon connectors and 12V transformer internal.
I have awnings out and have covered all windows with Mylar insulation, temp on asphalt is 120 at 4 pm today.
I was planning on viisiting my sister in Enid, OK when we leave here but I think I'll pass unless it snows in the next week or so.

Hi Gary ; that is some place to have AC trouble  . You might be thinking about how much cooler it is back in Ga. We were in Innovative Coach Works in 2007 . That place was full of Lions Tigers and other big cats . One or more was white . Watch out for the guy who runs that place , i heard from good source that tho whole lot of em are kidnappers and bank robbers .  ;)        I also know they are very good at what they do . I'd go back in a minute for repair .  {good people } so in the meantime your cooking your tail off . If you want , i'll mail you an ice cube .  Brad Metzger

Brad, If I was in ATL with a dead front AC I would still be looking for some place that could replace it. Not Innovatives Fault that the AC unit was stocked in CA.
They continue to improve the zoo section ( Now called Tanganyika Wildlife  ) and Ron is MORE than accommodating to us.  HOT is just a guess, predictions are 112 On Monday / Tuesday.  These two dogs now really know what a HOT DOG is, won't go out til ten PM, to hot to walk.
Remember February when we were thawing pipes and bitching about the weather. :)
