Best way to test boost solenoid?

What is the best way to test the boost solenoid? I had Dori toggle the switch as I put my ear next to it but heard nothing. I should be able to hear it open and close shouldn't I? Hopefully I ( or rather Kent Speers ) correctly identified the boost solenoid...

The boost solenoid was just replaced by FOT in June. That's why it's so shiny... :)

Do you know how to tell if Kent is not telling the truth?
His lips are moving and/or he is shaking his head!!!!!

The simple method of testing a solenoid would be to simply use a DC Volt meter, measure voltage across the two large terminals, IF solenoid is working the voltage will be zero.  if the solenoid is not working you will see a voltage difference. 

If it is not operating, use the meter to check for voltage to the operating coil of the solenoid.

One boost solenoid large terminals will read the voltage of one battery bank, the other large terminal the voltage of the other battery bank. 

When 12 VDC is applied to the small positive signal terminal, the terminals will read the same (and of course, there will be 12 VDC on the positive signal terminal).

If that does not occur, remove the small wire from the positive signal terminal and use a jumper wire from either large terminal.  It will not take much power, so even a small wire is fine.

Yes, you should hear it "click".

I turn on the ignition. If the coach is hooked up to shore the house batteries will be higher than the chassis bank. I look at the voltage on the dash and flip the boost switch. It should go up at least half a volt.

OH, Just for giggles, you can do the red neck method, with the boost off, crank engine to see how fast it turns, then close the boost and see if engine cranks faste.  Told you it was a red neck simple test... :o
