Re: J couch end removed Reply #4 – September 22, 2011, 07:10:04 pm Thanks for the compliments. It did come out better than I thought it would. There is a lot of wasted space in that J couch and I could never lay back and watch TV without sliding around the corner. Used about 2/3 sheet of 3/4" cabinet grade oak plywood. Finished with 3 coats of polyurethane, no stain and it matches quite well. Total cost was about $75.00. I still need to add a door for the shelf. Quote Selected
Re: J couch end removed Reply #5 – September 22, 2011, 08:41:55 pm I may talk the wife into letting me do that and slipping the U-Line in there. Easier hookup for the water than in the outside bottom China hutch door. Still likey be enough room for feet, especially if I raised it up 6 inches or so... Quote Selected
Re: J couch end removed Reply #6 – September 22, 2011, 09:01:13 pm I agree the J-section is pretty useless. We had David Flanagan remove ours and replace with a 3 drawer cabinet. It cost a little more than $75 though... see yaken Quote Selected

I made it about 6 1/2" high and about 5" out from the wall. I used some of the left over laminate flooring to enclose it. We will be heading down that way in mid November and may swing by for a chat. As it gets closer I will get in touch. Quote Selected
Re: J couch end removed Reply #9 – September 25, 2011, 04:48:53 pm I did the same thing. But when I took out the J, I found that the space was exactly 26". Went to Hobby Lobby and found an exquiste flip top antique replica desk exactly 26" wide. Set it in and it makes a great computer desk. 90 bucks and NO work. Quote Selected
