Windshield Size

99 320

I'm getting sun shades made up for the 99. MCD has a template for a 99 & 2000 U-270. Would the windshield, driver's side window and door measurements on the 270 be identical to those of the 320? Thanks. (haven't heard back from Foretravel yet on this question)

I am not an expert but I would say they are the same sizes as the front caps are pretty much the same for a few yrs, and the main difference in units is length and amenities along with engine of course.

Jor,

We will be @ McD Monday 24th for front window shades. We stopped a couple months ago and they measured all our windows. If you need those measurements ask Joy to fax them to you.  Don't like waiting for 4-5 days in the parking lot waiting for them to fabricate. We should pull in Sunday nite and be gone by noon on Monday...

We found that MCD's Foretravel template for the front slip-in day shade did not fit Foretravel windshields when the shade material is placed against the inside of the windshield.
Measuring side to side on the glass surface, Foretravel windshield is much wider at the bottom than the top. MCD's Foretravel template is designed to hang the material straight down which keeps us from using the entire dash surface when the shade is in place, which is every day when we are parked. If the template size is pushed toward the windshield, the shade will not cover the lower sides of the glass.

We had MCD make a custom size front windshield day shade and not use their template, so our shade material is wider at the bottom. Our day shade is not on a roller. It slips into a rail attached to the upper inside of our windshield. MCD front roller shades hand straight down, closing off the dash surface.

MCD rolls side window day shades toward the glass, but recommends the night shade roll away from the side glass. Rolling night shade toward the room covers the wooden window ledge preventing using the ledge at night. Both MCD shades on each of our side windows roll toward the glass.

That is how our shades were made, but it doesn't bother us.  Some U-channel keeps the driver's side blind from allowing outside light in.

The selected media item is not currently available.

The only ones who use our dash when we're parked are Blue and Bentley; in fact, I need to make a dash template so I can sew up a machine-washable dash rug.

We removed all of our side valences before measuring for MCD Duo roller shades. Leaving the side valences off 'opened' up the look of our coach and each MCD shade could be made an inch wider. With shades down and rolled toward window, and inside lights on at night, the interior looks dark from the outside.

I got a good look at your front window shades when you kindly showed us your coach shades a year ago..  For the coach windows in the '95, we did exactly as you guys did ... had the shades roll towards the glass and we demo'd our valances beforehand, then had FOT build new ones to fit around the shades.  Perfect privacy and light control.  I am not a bit bothered by having the dash area covered a bit by the interior shades.  It annoys me that the dash becomes a "catch all" space for flotsam and jetsam ... I would rather have the junk kept to a minimum.  Maybe the shades will help!!
