Modified Swing arm Lamp

We removed the swing part of the swing arm lamps and replaced all the shades.  Just an FYI for you all.

Very nice!  Where'd you find shades that fit/worked with those wall lamps?  I seem to recall they weren't a "standard" small shade (we changed ours to fixed, glass-shaded sconces....)

well, we found the shades in a Houston shade store, with the help of JB Weld, we created a "frame" for them to work with the lights.  It wasn't a big job to do.  But the shades were very costly.

We did a similar "renovation" on our last trip.  Our old "bordello" lights were terrible for reading.  I saw some replacement fixtures at Camping World that I liked, but they were $75 each.

While at Walmart, I bought two gooseneck desk lamps and two 12-volt bulbs.  I removed the old lights and replaced the neck and socket with the neck and socket from the desk lamp.  I had to enlarge the hole slightly with my Dremel, and I gave each a drop of super glue to keep it from rotating.  The new lights have shades, are adjustable, and are focused toward the reading area.  Time was about 1/2 hour, cost was about $11 total.

Your job looks a lot nicer!

I bought a couple of replacement lamps at Camping World. They would not fit properly where we wanted them, and the quality was very poor compared to the original lamps.

I pulled to OEM lamps apart, cleaned the glass parts, cleaned other parts, and put the lamps together. I made sure all parts were in proper order and fittings were tight. The lamps work, they don't rattle, Momma is happy, and travel is better.

Check out Gustafson Lighting in Elkhart  R.B. Gustafson Corp.

If Gustafson doesn't have what you want, it probably isn't available.

They sell lighting to the major RV manufacturers.

We got a pair of these
R.B. Gustafson Corp. :: Lighting 12-volt :: Wall Lights :: Sidewall Light #51

to replace our original Aunt Ethel style  :)) lights, and to go with our Southwest redecoration.  $32 each!
You need to call them for pricing, but very reasonable, and immense selection.

I did not want the brass look any more on the wall lights so took them apart and sprayed them with a textured paint that matched the window valances a bit then bought another shade that complimented the fixture. I feel they came out pretty good for a cheap fix
