LED Docking Lamps

Our coach has four surface-mount rectangular sealed beam incandescent 50-watt H9406 Wide-Flood Docking lamps.  They draw 200 watts, about 16 amps which is quite a lot when all four lamps are turned on.

We saw that new Foretravels are using similar size LED docking lamps that only draw 1.5 amps each for a total of 6 amps which is easier on the start battery when engine is off.

New surface-mount LED lamps are 18 watt Grote #63610, costing $114 each from Midway Auto Supply.  They fit in the same hole and use the same screw holes. Lamps come with a heavy rubber gasket and a stainless cover and are very bright.

Barry & Cindy,
Just an idea, on my coach the docking lights are round, and been thinking about putting the same LED in the Docking hole as Xtreme installed for back up lights, I am sure you have the same backup lights.  What is your idea. ?  In the morning, I will quiz James & Rance about this idea?,  I am presently camping in the Rance shop for the night.  ;D

Great idea to change to LED docking lights due to much lower current drain. I like the idea of the backup lights. Will they fit? Since so many coaches have round docking lights, you may have a new conversion idea. And Rance can do it.

Had a chat with Rance this AM, he does not recommend that change for the docking lights, he thinks the origional lights have a better light for distance than the LED setup, so guess I will forget the whole idea.  ;D
