Cargo Bay Lock Motor

We have a 2000 U320.  There is a small black box on each of the cargo bay doors which appears to be a motor to actuate the locks.  One of these motors stopped working.  When the key fob is pressed, this motor makes a grinding sound, almost like something was stripped out inside.  There is no identification markings for this part and I haven't found anything similar in my internet search.  I also checked the beamalarm website but he refers to A1 Electronics and they don't have this part either.

Any ideas?

Yvonne,

If A1 no longer stocks the MES actuator shown on Barry's site (I think Dave Katsuki was the one who found it), you might try the Bulldog ones found by Jim Frerichs (mentioned at the bottom of this thread.

Basement electric door lock replacement.

If that doesn't pan out, you might have to call FOT or MOT parts for one.  We replaced several last year and I think they were around $40 apiece.  Be aware the ones we got were wired backwards so you might need to clip and swap the wires as the wire harness headers were keyed.  Here's another thread that mentions this

I have had a couple of them go out. different parts inside
failed on mine. I ordered two new ones, and was able to
make a spare from the two broken ones.
also if, when you install the new one, and it works opposite
to the way it should, just reverse the wires.
good luck.

The MES actuator works fine although you may have to tweak the mounting a little and rewire the plug.

The MES actuator does not fit in the 1999-era door, and when ours went, I transplanted a working original one from one of the basement doors, and replaced that one with an MES actuator.

I did get a replacement for the original actuator from Foretravel parts, but it cost a lot more than the MES.
