Yes, EZ but some wires are short so you have to be careful. Here is the Ebay search listing all different styles. Basic are about $30 or so delivered for 10 lights. led clearance lights | eBay

Probably don't need to say it but seal all the holes before going to the next one.

Make sure the bulb is bad. Lots of road stuff down low where the lights are to get into the wires so could be just a bad connection.

This is something I've been wanting to do on my 91 U225, but am deterred by what this might entail. I noted with the center rear light, on the inside, everything is coated in some black material, including the fasteners. Is this simply a matter of popping the lens and unscrewing the base from the outside? There sure doesn't seem to be any access from the inside on most lights. Trying to gage what I'm getting into before I start taking things apart. Thanks.

Steve

EDIT - was trying to find the ones you mentioned John, but they don't seem to be the 10th ones down in the link anymore.  :)

Grote Low-Profile Clearance / Marker Lamp PRODUCT NUMBER WITH BEZEL: 45662 - Red and
Grote Product Number with bezel:  45663 - Yellow

Grote Lighting, Chrome Stuff items in OTT'S FRICTION SUPPLY store on eBay!

4th row down, 1st two items.
The Ryder Truck stores also carry them or can get them at about the same price.  I have dealt with Otts and they are good.

Merle,
Yours should look comparable to these, minus the chrome bezel,  but on your oem, the bulb should come out from the back side.  You have to remove the whole lens and housing to get to bulb.  If your has a lens that you have to remove to get to the bulb, then you have something different.  What you describe sounds like a different housing than what we have as on ours the screws have to be removed to remove the lens.  If your are like ours with the screw holes in the same place, just swap out the housing and all.  Cut and splice the wires.  Don't know what your black stuff is  -  maybe some pictures would help.

But then he would have to do some fiberglassing to fill the old holes.  He should currently have 4" screw hole spacing and those are 1 and 15/16" screw hole spacing.

I bought mine on ebay and could specify how many red vs amber.  Some of the lights have two white wires instead of one and you will have to cut them and splice them together with the white from the new lamp.  Don't know why this is the case as some of them are just one white and one black.  Use small vice grips to hold the wires from slipping into the hole.  I had one go in and had to fish it out and was very lucky to have gotten it out.  The worst was the side marker above the entry door and the one in the same position on the opposit side of the coach.  No room  behind the fiberglass to stuff the wires in.  I ended up with wire inside the fixture under the lens.  If I had it to do over again I'd be much more liberal with the silicone as moving the wire to secure everything once the silicone is on pulls some of it out and it was difficult to tell if the hole was completely covered with the fixture in place.  The hole on the old lights don't line up with the hole on the new lights even though the dimensions are exactly the same.

I have the type where the lens pops off and there are two bulbs inserted in the sides. I guess my best bet is to first measure what's there and then try to find something with the same hole spacing and overall size.

That black stuff is used on the front and rear caps. My best guess is some kind of insulating material. Gotta wait until it's light again to get some pics. It's all over the screw threads and wires, and that's what made me stop and wonder if I'd be messing something up by trying to remove the lights.

Thanks for the help.

as I said mine have up to 20 LEDs so they are really bright not just one or 2. Good job I can be seen as coming along the I5 and I210 tonight it was hazey and rush hour so traffic is nuts 5 to 7 lanes all wanting to do 80 mph to get home !!! A couple of times I had to use my docking lights to show them I really wanted to change lanes after signalling for a while.
