92' Silver edition U300 on Oodle

Not a lot of info, but sounds like it mught be a great deal for someone...92 Foretravel U300 Unihome Grand Villa Silver Anniversary model - Sioux City
It is aparent from the pics that this one has a rear radiator... I thought that the U300's had side radiators. Am I making that up?

I didn't see the video but I'm sure it has a side radiator if it has a 350hp DD.  My 91 U300 is 300 hp and has the rear radiator. '92 was a major change year for the U300's where they went to a wide body, 350 hp, HWH level system and bumpers integrated into the fiberglass caps.  It's amazing how much coach you can get for so little dollars on these older units.

John,

I watched that video twice; I thought sure it would have a side radiator also, but neither side revealed a grill opening large enough to accomodate a radiator. Just two grills about 12" square and one even smaller. Perhaps that coach was a very early '92 model.

My '92 U-280 has a side radiator, wide body, HWH, integrated bumpers, etc. However I vaguely recall that I was told when I bought the coach in '03 that a larger grill opening was cut and grill installed a year or two after the first purchase. Perhaps they found overheating was an issue and put it in after the fact. Just a possibility.

The two 12x12 grills are up in a location where they would be in the rear stateroom area. Perhaps engine air intakes or stateroom heating. It must be a rear radiator version.

I stand corrected.  I saw the video and agree it must be a rear radiator.  It just goes to show you there are few hard rules about what you'll find in what year.  I think the side grills are air intakes for the rear radiator and as consequence eliminate any storage under the end tables of the bed.  From what I understand about rear radiators is they are starved for air above the floor deck - there just isn't enough openings between the floor and the engine to feed the upper half of the radiator.  I'm curious if those grills did the job or not.

Having the Detroit Diesel radiator on the rear, most likely is due to the fact that the DDC engines are harder to cool than the 4 cycle engines, and a side radiator may not been available of proper size and fan configuration to cool either the 300 or 350 HP DDC engines.

Pierce,

On my coach the driver's side 12"X12" grill is the engine air intake. Behind the grill is the large Donaldson air filter. I also have the small 8"X8" grill, but it is up above the radiator grill on the passenger side and is the access hole for the radiator cap.
