Front TV Bracing Pics?

I have some ideas on how I'm going to create the bracing for the 32" TV bracket, but it would be really nice if someone has pics of how they did it just to get some other ideas!  I'm trying to decide if I'm going to fill the entire hole from the old TV with plywood or just put in some cross bracing.

Benjie:  I as you know justed finished installing a 37 Vizo LED.  I used a 1x3 screwed to sides top to bottom Put 2 ea 1x6 screwed to these from side to side.  This gave me plenty of room to work behing to do the hook ups.  This was extremely strong so it held the mount solid.  DAN

The little flat-screen that was in our U225 had been installed by simply cutting a scrap piece of plywood to fit into the hole left by the old Sony and side-screwed into the cabinet. It was plenty solid and since the 19" LED \re\placement was even lighter than the LC|D set, I just cut a piece of poplar to go over it, routered the edges so it looked nice, stained it to match the wood in the coach, and screwed it to that scrap piece of wood. Then attached the same mounting bracket to that piece of wood.

Easy and no fuss. I did cut\ a hole to feed through the cabling. I can reach around inside the cabinets from the sides to run new cables if necessary. Or just unmount everything, do what I need, and then put it all back.

Benjie, thanks for asking that question. I presently have my front overhead cabinets out and on my work bench. I banged my head on that corner tv one time too many times, and when I saw Jerry Whiteaker's pictures, that's when I started tearing it out. Thank all of you for the good information and pictures to help out us newbies.

Here's another way of attaching the TV.  (32" Samsung)  It was done at Parliment Coach in Clearwater Fl.  I wanted to be able to use the storage area behind the TV, so it is mounted on a plywood board which is hinged via a piano hinge to a new cross wise wooden brace.  The TV goes up very smoothly and is held up with a gas spring.  Not much al all was done to the cabinet other then shorten it 5 inches from the back and rehung.  The entire inside is covered in light plywood covered with rug.  Lots of room inside, and very easy access to TV connections. 

The two flat HDMI cables that are not connected in the picture are waiting for right angle port savers.  The Samsung TV is great but the HDMI ports are very close to the edge.  There isn't much room when the TV is closed against the cabinet so I need the port savers.

Larry, that is one of the nicest conversions yet. I wish I had that much room in the overhead of our U225. If I want to go to a larger TV set (a 19" is all that will fit and let the cabinet doors open) I'll probably have to go to a roof-latch system. Or put the TV set somewhere else in the coach.

Jeff & Suzanne (two hams in a can) used a pillar type mount that worked very well and allowed the TV to swing out and tilt.  I am going to use the same.  It's advantage is that there is no woodworking needed.  The details are on my work computer and I will post as soon as I can find it.

Keith... that would be great. We don't mind the 19" TV right now since we don't full-time and when we're out with the RV we're mostly doing other stuff but when we full-time I am pretty sure 19" is not gonna cut it for me. I have even considered making a removable pillar-supported dining table between the driver and co-pilot seats and then moving a larger TV to that. Seems like a pain though. I want to utilize that space in the front more. Otherwise it's not much better than a Class C (but no extra bed).

Many choices for TV upgrades, I had MOT remove the CRT, cut the box way down to size and they did a better than average (perfect) wood fitting, using my new Sony LCD 26". I love the job, only issue I think I have is the amount of heat put off by the new TV, otherwise a most perfect (for me) setup and MOT sure has men who know how to work wood.

Front CRT TV square box comes complely off with the removal of several screws.

And then you have lots of options to hang a new TV of any size without the TV hanging off the old box.

We have a 46" mounted without it causing head banging.  No reason a smaller TV would also work.

There is lots of strong structure to work with behind old TV box.

I ordered this today from these folk.  They shipped it right away,  Mount it in the old box and attach the TV to it.  Pulls out and tilts.  Have seen it in Jeff & Suzanne's, coach it looked good.  Pics of their coach are in the classified section as it's for sale.

Thanks for noticing!  Be sure to buy the short mast model.  When we bought ours from the mfg., MorRyde at an RV show, the salesman insisted we needed the 17" mast for our 32" TV. . .NOT!!!  They footed the bill for overnight shipping and return since we were hundreds of miles away when we installed the mount.

Like this mount much better than my current set up, but already built something and purchased a mount.  May have to upgrade in a year or so!
