Radio GPS - DVD- Camera used while driving

Our new Jeep radio has rear camera, DVD player that cannot be used while driving and our GPS navigation can not search for a new location while driving.

We just installed a NAV-TV ALLGIG product that allows rear camera, DVD player & ability to enter locations in our navigation system while in motion.

Had to remove radio, remove rear OEM cable, pug in cable from ALLGIG and then plug OEM into ALLGIG.  Pretty slick.

Our kids bought a fancy Toyota mini-van with an expensive GPS system that does all that stuff. They were so annoyed with the inability of them to do anything while in motion that they traded for a Subaru... and did not buy the fancy GPS system. They bought a Garmin instead. :P

Sounds like the kids missed out on have their cake and eating it too. I think many don't like in-motion limitations, because there are several companies selling kits to eliminate in-motion restrictions. It seems to be an international business.

The in-motion restrictions are probably lawyer driven, not to mention laws against watch DVD while driving. I have no interest in watching videos, but did want the co-pilot to enter GPS data when Jeep is in motion. Using the rear camera in-motion is probably like using mirrors.

My Goldwing has integral GPS. The display integrates with the display for other functions. While underway, I can perform some zoom and display changes. Searches and "significant" changes require stopping. I like it on the motorcycle. It removes the temptation to even try to do something that is significantly distracting. However, in a vehicle with four or more wheels on the ground, I would like for my passengers to be able to operate electronic gear.

Thanks for the tip on the ALLGIG. In a few more years we might be candidates to buy something with four wheels and integrated electronic gadgets. We tend to buy and use "experienced" equipment.
