Satelite Reviews

Good afternoon folks, I am getting close to purchasing a In motion satelite T.V. system for our motor home. I am looking for opinions on which satelite & provider seem to be the best buy.

Thanks, Mitch Sayer

I had Dish TV and was happy how it worked for me.  I also had the "in motion" dish set up and can tell you I never used it while traveling in 2 years.

We have the TracStar and use DirecTV and have no issues and we use our Inmotion all the time when traveling.  The big downside is that you cannot get HD with DirecTV in motion.  Actually, I'm not sure you can get it with DISH either.

We have had both Dish and Directv and we prefer Directv.

We have Direct TV and Trac-Star Dome.  The downside is that you have to move to 119 which is where the local channels are located.  It will only hold two sats at a time.  Usually 110 and 101.  Direct TV also will deactivate your card if you do not have it on after 3 to 4 weeks.  You can reactivate yourself online or call.  The reception is a clear picture but not HD.  No HD with the Trac-Star but our unit was built in 2002.  Tks DAN

Many of us have abandoned our in motion systems in order to get HD, and most have gone with the Winegard systems, whether Dish or DirecTV.  We're used the Winegard system since it was introduced, with DirecTV and have had no problems of any kind.

I agree with Brett. We love our Winegard HD DirecTV antenna. We even got good signal 500 miles north of US Border in Northern Alberta. Probably not gonna do that with a covered dome.

As soon as our Trac Star poops out, we'll go with a stationary HD dish.  Although, one of us really likes watching HGTV while traveling down the road or the big football game on saturdays.

We had an in motion Dish Net. and returned it. To much tree cover on the interstates along the east coast. We have a auto find for when we are stopped. We use our sling box more than anything else. It is free and offers service when ever we have cell phone service. We also get our local news with it. I wired our phone card to a wireless hub and hard wired to the lap top, blue ray player and TV. This also allows I phones I pad and other lap tops to use the wi-fi.
