Mud flap replacement options

If you look closely, you'll see ours is damaged, too.  Steve beat it back into shape for the most part and repaired the attachment portion, but the bottom edge has "road rash".  It's been years and it's still functional, but it does look a little shabby.

Foretravel rock-deflectors are in stock, at the parts counter, two heights, maybe 9" and 12", then you cut the rubber part to match yours and add new chrome "Foretravel" metal.  Was quoted about $300+ for the two parts.  Service tech mentioned about 2 hours of labor to have it fabed and installed.  Would think you would have to have a new one to go with the great tail light mod.

On my list to do, or have done, TBD.

Have heard conveyor-belt material is commonly used, if you wish to fabricate your own rock-guard. Have looked for some time, but not found. I have access to talent that can fab the metal "Foretravel" over-lay were I able to find the material from which to make the rock-guard itself. This is off-topic, but thanks for the replies!

Chad, When I needed to rebuild my mudflap/rockguard I went to a local granite Quarry.  They had miles of mostly worn out conveyor belting laying around and they were glad to get rid of It. Don't know where you are but here in GA we have Quarries everywhere. If you are Near Atlanta drop me a PMl.

I'm in Wickenburg, AZ. There are a few gravel quarries around, but they're small-time and none (that I've found) have any old conveyor belting. I'll keep digging; patience is a big ingredient in avoiding "retail"!!

Xtreme mounted my new mud flap / rock guard / or what ever.  I purchased it from FOT parts, notbad price including bolts, but had to visit Lowes for the needed angle iron.  When installed, there is lots of space to eliminate the bending or messing it up when you level withtherear low.  Xtreme has a very neat way of mounting giving lots of freedom.
Also I purchased the smaller / Narrow size metal logo, makes for easier install.
Also, if your interested, you can purchase the belting from Tractor Supply.

Rubber belting is usually available at industrial supply houses. Many different widths, colors, and properties. Try Mcmaster-Carr or a bearing supply house. Put a 1" wide x 1/8" thick stainless piece on the visible/rear side of the rubber and a 1"x 1" x 3/16 steel angle iron on the side toward the coach undercarriage. Use 1/4-20 x 3/4" lg stainless bolts and put the nuts on the angle iron side. The stainless strip helps keep the bolt heads from pulling thru the rubber. Placement of the screw-shut chain links has to be considered when placing the angle and strip along the top edge.
I redid our stone guard soon after getting the coach and did another FT owners guard while at NAC last year. His stone guard had the bolt heads tear thru the rubber so we fixed it the same as above.
Looks nice, looks clean, and is quite durable.

Our previous coach had one of the grass-looking things, so we call them "hula skirts" even if they are a solid piece.

On our FT, the angle that was attached to the top of the hula skirt BENT at the attachment points after a big bump.  A second thicker angle did the same thing.  I found two old steel rails from a bed frame, and they don't bend anymore.  Use big washers on the rubber side.

Our flap has a hole in it.  I was driving the coach home from a repair during Houston rush-hour, and had to drive over a green metal fence post in my lane.  I was reassured when I did not hear the post impale the oil pans or knock parts off.  Apparently the rear tire kicked it up, it hit the flap, bounced up and to the side, and put a 10-inch dent in the fender of the towd.
