BTW, it is not mine and I am not familiar with it or the owner. I just thought it looked nice and a fair price. posted just for anyone else that may be interested.

I agree totally with this. It's almost like they don't really want you to know anything about the unit. Only 4 photos allowed with craigslist but it's not hard to make a gallery on one web hosting service or another and link to that. And digital cameras are everywhere... heck, I'm 69 and I use 'em.

Go figure...

Sweet looking U300 though... and the price is not bad at all. I am tempted to mention it over on rv.net where they think a 95 Winnie DP at $60k is a deal.

The statement in the ad " suitable for a permanent home " would worry me, Why would you even consider this if coach is in running condition ? Is it in such sad shape that all it is good for is a DEER CAMP ? Mind just wandering ..

They might have been suggesting "full timer". Would be a great coach for that lifestyle. Little clues to maybe the ad was posted by a helping friend, and in the statement, "details from the owner", few facts and misspellings as well.

Noticed it has fiberglass bumpers. Was '94 the last year for the stainless steel bumpers?

My '93 U300 has the GRP bumpers. Not sure about the '92. Always thought the stainless single or double looked good on the earlier models

I did like the stainless bumpers, but I also like the clean look of that 95 with the gelcoat bumpers. I am not in the market, but if I was, this is one I would want to investigate further.

In late '94 the 3176 365hp Cat was optional on U300 with the 350hp 6V92 DD standard. Both came standard with jake brakes. Rarest is the 3176 Cat U300 with Allison retarder. I've seen 3. Jon Harris has what I believe is the rarest and most optioned 95 U300. It was custom ordered for a Nacogdoches ophthalmologist in an african safari motif with custom Corian counters.

The 95 in PA and the other one in FL are jake brake coaches. Very well priced.

The discussion here about engines does remind me of a question that has been in the back of my mind. It seems that Foretravel used several different engines in the 90's, including some Detroits. I would have thought that sticking to one engine, or at least one manufacturer, would have made factory life easier. Why the variety?

Customer's desires ruled back then. You could get 3 different chassis (Oshcosh, Torsilastic or Fortravel Proprietary). You could get a Ford 460, a Chevy 454, a C5.9, Cat 3116, 3126, C8.3, or DD 6V92. And that was just one particular year...

Even today, if you want it a particular way and are willing to 'pay the freight' they will do it...

You should spec a Peterbilt, Kenworth, or other class 8 commercial tractor. You get a choice of engines, including brands, transmissions, differentials, suspensions (including brands), and the interiors, well thatis another story. And if you think that blows you mind, you need to spec fire apparatus. If you want a particular fire pumper, you let the salesman write the specs for you and then you advertise for bids using those specs. Only the brand that the salesman wrote the specs from can win the bid. And prices, if he salesman sells one truck per season, he doesn't need to do anything the rest of the year. And if he sells two, he is living high off the hog!

Looks like a good deal, wish I was a little closer I would go look. As to posting all kinds of pictures with the ad, well the seller is only going to post pictures they think look good. Mine is for sale with some pictures, if a prospective buyer that sounds like they are interested contacts me I would then send them pictures of anything on the coach so they could look at any thing they want. However IMHO some buyers want you to go overboard with it (wasting a bunch of your time)

For the U300:
SS until 1990, was double stacked compared to U225 & U240
1991 used a plastic bumpers (1/4" thick), unique to this year (see photo)
1992 went to all fiberglass (molded into front & rear caps)
