Pressure regulator

           Does anyone know if there is a factory installed water pressure regulator plumbed into the system? Or do you use an external one?

For city water, there is no water pressure regulation on my '99. I use an external regulator made for whole house pressure regulation. Camping world type regulator reduces flow too much.

I bought a regulator from Camping World. It failed. I recently bought a good quality regulator with gauge from RV Water Filter Store: Standard Filter Canisters for Whole RV. I have bought several items from them. Richard Dahl gives personal service and sells good equipment.

           Yep, I have hoses and a regulator from Richard that I bought for our last sob. I was just wondering if there was already an on-board regulator which would make the external one unnecessary. Thanks, Dean

If there is one (and I believe there is), it will not protect the hose.  I use a good quality regulator attached as close to the hose bib as possible to protect all my stuff.  However, I remove it if my water flow and pressure are low.

I too had a Camco water pressure regulator from Camping World fail. Middle of the night, DW woke my up to tell me "the toilet won't flush".  This was on our old trailer and we kept the pump off because some genius at Jayco designed it to be under the bed!  By the way are we sure that Foretravel did not put a pressure regulator on the coach?  They put everything else on my '95 U320!

Well, I don't know about anyone else's Foretravel, but my '94 U225 had one that was the compartment on the other side of the wall from the city hookup.  It was inside a wall box in the next compartment forward.  It was a brass one, I believe made by Marshall.

I removed it because I was installing a new adjustable Watts regulator, and made the startling discovery that it was also a one way check valve which held the water in the system.  So although I installed a new expensive Watts , that does not have a check valve in it, and I now have to add a check valve into the system.  I currently have a manual valve hooked up, unitil I can get the proper check valve installed in the system where I want it.

Oh Tom,  I'm not worried about the hose.  It is one of the cheapest things we buy for RVing.  And I have become very faithful to turning off the water at the parks valve when we go out for the day.  And I carry a extra Marshall brass regulator for those parks with really super high pressure so I can attach it before the hose if needed.

I had a factory installed regulator in my 94 behind the service bay wall.  It wore out and I removed it now using an external unit.

I'm sure you have a factory-installed pressure regulator.  It's in the Manibloc bay, behind the water pump, possibly hidden by a gray panel.

I noticed a loss of pressure a couple of months ago and recently it got worse.  Time to fix it and into the water bay I go.  Not fun removing that wall.  The city water inlet has a check valve and after getting behind the wall I found a pressure regulator hooked up in-line after the check valve.

I'm unsure if the pressure regulator was installed by the factory or later.  It appeared to be very old and it did fail and was the problem.  The water inlet check valve also appeared very well used and I replaced that also. 

This must have been coming on for some time and I just got used to less water pressure.  The water pressure is once again very good.

Since I haven't put everything back together again I do believe I will leave that pressure regulator out of the system and use one on the hose side.  I would rather not have to get behind that water bay wall again if I don't have to.

The factory installed RV water pressure regulator is probably behind many water inlet connections. These regulate pressure in such a way that even when the regulator is new, they are highly restrictive and can slow water flows. Just look into the end of them.
