The PPL Foretravel

We are Foretravel wannabees. Looking at a 2001 Foretravel at PPL.
Does anyone know this coach?
Carfax says it has lived in Texas all it's life.
Miles seem reasonable for it's age.
Coach has been repainted, headlight mods done. Not sure where.
TV upgrade done, again not sure who did it.
Any comments or insights from anyone?
Asking price reasonable?
We were able to look at a local Foretravel, same model but without the upgrades, asking 9k less.
Thanks

Looks like the coach labeled "Austin" on Xtreme's site under painted motorhomes.  (That's not what clicking on the coach takes you to, though, just on the hover-over does it show up).  I would guess they did the headlights, tail lights, step conversion, and paint.

Mike,

Brett Wolfe will be at PPL tomorrow, Thursday, to inspect another coach.  You might consider asking him to look it over for you while he is there.

Send him a message via the forum if this interests you.

The upgrades cost several times the $9,000 difference.

All the best in your search.

Don't know the rig, but the price is good IMO.  The paint job is sweet.  Looks like it's had the steps modified too?

Michelle,

When you click on the thumbnail "Austin" it takes you to a pic marked "before"  That is my coach or one with the same paint job.  The only thing I see different is the sat dish.

Mike,

I would buy the one with the Xtreme Graphics conversion all things being equal.  Mine was their show coach and they do very good work.  Good luck with your choice.

Yup - I think that's an error on the Xtreme website as I mentioned.  The expanded picture when you hover over the thumbnail is correct, but clicking on it takes the user to photos of your coach, not photos of the Austin coach.  At least the hover helps ID the coach.

From the pictures and the upgrades appears to be a good buy for someone.  If Rudy is going to be there he certainly can put a value on it for you.  Nice looking coach.  DAN

Mike PM'ed.  I talked with him a few minutes ago.

I will take a quick look at it tomorrow when I do the mechanical inspection on another coach at PPL tomorrow.

I met the grandson of the original owner while camping out at Jellystone in Houston.  His grandfather purchased a new FT (not sure what) and if I remember correctly essentially gave this one to his daughter (the grandson's mom).  He told me it was for sale at PPL and showed me a pic.  Apparently, his parents didn't get the opportunity to use it much.  No clue what kind of condition it was kept in, but definitely a sweet looking ride!

I can't tell if it's a U320 or U295.  Says "400HP ISL 9.2 CUMMINS"
U320 should be a an ISM 450 and U295 is a ISC 350 ?

Listing photo shows retarder handle, but they list an exhaust brake in the description.

Bad listing info from PPL would be my guess.  Yes it is a retarder and not an exhaust brake.

Was over at PPL today doing a Mechanical Inspection on a Country Coach Magna.

Took a brief peak at the ?320?  It has the M engine, so IS a 320.

Michelle, I responded to this on another thread, looking for a manual for Mike P.  But here is the latest except Mike P.  Dianne Wolfe is taking him to an Urgent Care Doc and Jackie and I will pick him up if Brett and Dianne head home before Mike P. is released.  A busy busy a.m.

Brett and Dianne are here looking at a 1997 for another delightful "Mike" (at MOT).  Yep, three of us wandering around there today.....heading for lunch in a moment.

I have copied for Mike P. my Operating Guide that I constructed for our 2001.  I think I put it on the ForeForum somewhere, but for now have made a hardcopy for Mike P.  He has nothing.  We doing basic stuff, how to operate the AC.  I am sure not fun begin sick this far from home, a new coach, repairs needed before he heads out 1500 or so miles.

Mike,

Sorry I missed you today at MOT. At least, you probably got to see my feet sticking out from under the coach I was up inspecting.

I know Dianne thanked you for the "Will Work For Diesel" bumper sticker.  Heck it worked, that is what I was doing up there today.  Or did Mike (one of the three there today) read my number on a wall somewhere.........

Thanks for checking up on Mike P-- Dianne did take him to the ER and stopped on the way back to get his prescription filled before returning him to his new "rolling" home for some rest.

Dianne was just what he need, get the prescriptions going.  He and I talked soon after, I went by right after lunch and was so sorry to miss you.  Dang it.  Mike P. was doing pretty good I guess, sitting in his coach in the bay.  Good to see him excited while feeling so sick.

Left him, went to see Cory at FOT even though Dianne had tried to get the manual.  Cory very nice, said he thought that he could get it, that his new bride runs that area in Engineering.  And would get the schematics as suggested in a thread.  Cory to get back with me tomorrow.

Back to MOT about 6 p.m. to check on him, Jackie sent him some chocolate chip cookies.  He opened right away so I took that as a good sign.  He is confident the meds Dianne got for him are already working but still high fever.  Bless him.

But Barry of course came through, I do not know how he does it.  Sent me a 2001 manual pdf.  And noted that coach is IFS.  I will tell Mike P. tomorrow but he is going to wonder if that good, bad or whatever.  I do not know, sounds good to me but I think the front air bag of such changed to do IFS??

I visited again with the Mike B. you worked with today.  He and I had visited last week, met at MOT, about the coach.  I hope it turns out good for him.  It is fun to see somebody get what they want.

Thanks Brett and Barry, Mike

P.S. I think I am to do an applause for you two but where does it end...you do so much for us....you'd have a thousand little karma's.

Dear Morninghill......attached are the two manuals that Barry Beam found for you.  You can access them electronic when you get home.  In the meantime I will tell you about them being on this thread for you and you can use my homemade reference manual to help get you home.  If you need help on the way, call me or MOT folks you used or any ForeForum folk you have the number with you.

And be sure to post a photo of your new coach.  It is very handsome indeed.  Members like the pictures, and then update your profile to include the coach data.  I will talk to you about that tomorrow, how to do both.

Welcome to ownership,

John, I talked to Morninghill last night, he has gotten up north of Oklahoma City, still miles and miles to go, but is doing well.

In addition to the manual Barry found, I had constructed my own brief operating reference guide to the 1999 - 2001.  If you have not seen it before, I had some reviews and then Barry posted it in his link, you will find it at

Guide to using a Foretravel

I suspect however you are further down the road on needing such, I really needed it being new to this.  Then I had seven folks in PM ask for copies.  I hope it continues to provide some help.

I went by FOT for Morninghill to see if we could buy a manual for Morninhill.  Very nice about it at FOT and while I asked one be made, I got a call the next day to confirm that I wanted them to do this.  $300 with a discount.  Had to tell them no, then I talked to Morninghill and he said he too did not want to pay that.  He had my Guide plus he will have Barry's when he gets home to computer.    Mike

Mike, I am at FOT Campground, and have the  complete owners manual for the 2001 including wiring diagrams, will  be here for a nother week, so if you would like to copy the wiring diagrams, there are here. There are 23 pages, some are fold out type (Large).
Note; I purchased the complete manual from FOT when I bought the coach from MOT, cost $35.00 including UPS.  Amazing how prices change.

Hi Dave....several things.

1.  I think Mike P. is doing ok on the manual.  I could copy mine for him but believe we fixed that up.  He was up past Okalhoma City when I talked to him last night, doing well but coach seems large, turning radius huge (I think that will improve when learns where wheels are relative to a class C).  The cost FOT cited me for the manual was because they no longer have it available and have to try to piece one together.  Cory's bride is in engineering, would try to assemble something.

2.  If you want to have lunch Saturday, let me know,

3.  Rudy called, his father passed.  We talked about when he will do your Aqua Hot work.  He is to let me know so I can watch what he is doing. I am not sure if it to be Sunday or Monday.  He said that he would do the work parked at Xtreme.  Do you want to bring it to my house so you and he can work in the shade?  I think my RV shed is 14 ft wide if that would give you enough room vs being in the sun at Xtreme?
