Antifreeze in the storage bay (not the way it should be)

There were a couple of premixed gallons of Shell Rotella antifreeze (the pink stuff) stored in my forward storage bay.  All but one were in a plastic tub.  Well, the one that was not in tub but stored directly on the grey indoor/outdoor carpet leaked.  I think it got compressed during a quick stop and sprung a tiny leak.  About 4 cups of antifreeze soaked into the carpet.  I blotted it all up as best as possible and will let it air dry.  It did not seem to stain the carpet and does not seem to be sticky (yet?).

Is there anything else that can or should be done to clean this up?

You could shampoo the carpet if you're that kind of person, but if there's no stain, I'd just leave it.

Just keep the cats and dogs away from it.  That stuff is poison to them and they love it and don't realize that it will kill them.

Mark, The carpet in my bays is not glued down, it is just cut very precisely to fit.  You might see if you can lift an end and if so you may be able to remove entire carpet and clean it up out of the coach.

It should be cleaned with soap and water, and use rubber gloves. Antifreeze can be absorbed through the skin and cause damage to internal organs. The pink or orange is less toxic then the green-yellow which has the sweet flavor animals love.Gam

The bay is safe from pets but any critters that find a way in are free to lick the carpet!  :P

I was thinking about a soap and water cleanup but ran out of time.  The coach is not stored locally.  I like Gary's idea and next time I get a chance I'll see if the carpet is removable - that would make for easier cleaning and drying.

Thanks all.

I would get my wet/dry vac out and pour soapy water over the spot and vacuum up.  And then repeat a few times then again with just plain water to get the soap out.
