Electrical protection

                 So I just recieved my Progressive ind. hardwired EMS-HW50c surge and voltage protection unit with display which is the same one I think that several of you have. I believe Steve & Michelle just installed theirs.

    I didn't get the extra display but wondered if anyone had any tips on the installation? Where did you put the display?
 I have found that sometimes it pays to ask the question before wading into a project. ::)

We have one display in the utility bay so we can see the parameters when we first hook up.  That's also where our display switch box is.  The second display was installed up with the Power Line Monitor and Xantrex readout so we can monitor conditions from inside the coach.

                I recall that you mentioned the difficulty getting the wire pulled to the 2nd display. That's one of the reasons I didn't go that route although I would like to have it inside the coach.

Having the readout available in the utility bay and having had several years of good experience with the highly reliable Progressive industries EMS, I really have to push myself to meter power pedestals any more (before plugging in).  I always used to, but have found that the real beauty of the PI EMS is that most faults occur when I would least expect or predict that there might be a problem (for instance, out of the blue on a good shore power source, or at an RV Service Facility, or in the middle of the night, or when we are away (last fault is "locked in" until reset), or when the generator is running, or going down the road with the gen set on, etc.).
I find it to be very nice to have the two readouts and it wasn't an unreasonable additional cost or effort at all.
