Dometic Elite RM 1282 Intermittent Operation

Hi, friends, I have a 2000 Dometic Elite RM 1282 on a coach I've owned about 6 months. It is cooling fine when it's on. Within the last couple of weeks, the fridge will turn itself off periodically, whether set on electric or propane. It may stay on for 2 days or 5 minutes, then go off. I don't know if it's had any recalls done or when it was last serviced.

Have you ever heard of such a thing happening? The owner's manual troubleshooting section doesn't cover that.

Thank's for any suggestions. I'm in an area where I don't have a trusted repair facility.

Lee,

First thing I would do is verify that you have a constant supply of 12 VAC to the refrigerator to run the  PC board.  Clean and tighten connections in the back (outside access door) area.

 Thank you very much. I am embarassed to say I may have solved the problem by shutting off power at the interior breaker box and waiting 30 seconds or so to turn it back on. I did that yesterday a.m. and have had no problems since. Of course with intermittent problems, one never knows. Time will tell. If the problem reoccurs, I'll try your suggestion.

Just wanted to close the loop with an updated status. Found a great mobile RV repair person in the Anacortes, WA area. After talking with Dometic, he replaced the lower control board. We decided to use a Dinosaur Electronics unit that was cheaper than the Dometic version and has a 3 year warranty, rather than Dometic's 1 year warranty.

So far so good. Will update you if anything else develops.
